is petechia always a sign of a serious disease?

I have hade petechia in different parts of my body for about 3 months now. I first saw it on the upper side of my rib cage. Then I saw it on the lower part of my stomach and yesterday I have seen it on my thigh. They usually go away in 2 or 3 days and they aren't as large as some I have seen on other people. Should I ask my parents if I can get some blood work done? I don't have any swollen nodes or spleen and I haven't had a fever in years.

Yes, see a physician. There are three primary causes, however it could be something else. Fragility of the cells, which rupture, generally due to vitamin C deficiency, high blood pressure, and abnormalities in clotting factors in the blood, requiring a consult with a hematologist.
