MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
If you also have gut issues like diarrhea or constipation or an alteration between these, then you need to rule out Crohn's and IBS. Similar symptoms can occur in rheumatoid arthritis and in H pylori infection of the stomach. The infection is ruled out by carbon urea breath tests and rheumatoid by blood tests.
Other than this it could be urticaria triggered by allergens, such as drugs, foods, insect bites, inhaled substances, in response to sunlight, cold, heat, stress, exercise, or a viral infection. Other common allergens are pollen, mold, dust, pet dander, or cosmetics.
Since I cannot examine you and know other related conditions you may be having, nor is a detailed history possible on net, I have listed the various possibilities that should be looked into. Please consult your PCP for primary examination followed by proper referral.
Take care!

I don't think the rash is from muscle soreness. Being all over, it sounds systemic and if Benedryl got rid of it, guessing it is an allergy. Double check what you are coming into contact with...are you showering after? At the gym? Using a gym provided towel? Different water and/or body soap and/or laundry detergent can cause a rash...
