In need of help

I am a 46 yr old female. I am overweight.  I have been experencing several issues. First off 2 yrs ago I had a PE in right lung.  I was placed on blood thinners and after 6 mths was taken off.  Since then, my menstral cycle that was always on time, pretty much stopped.  I now have a period once every 3 to 4 mths.  My left foot kills me in the mornings until I stretch and get to moving then the pain somewhat goes away.  I am on no medications, I dont have high blood pressure and my last blood work just said that my RA factor was elevated and Vitamin D was a little low.  I have numbness in my hands and my thumbs at the joints hurt, I stay tired all the time, it does all I can do to make it through work everyday.  I find myself taking sharp short breaths that seems like my body just automatically does.  I am on a diet that was started approx 2 mths ago and have dropped 18lbs.  I know that weight plays a big part in health, but I have been around the same size (5' 5 and weigh 203) for 13yrs.  Just feel like crap and need to know where I need to seek help.. Thanks

It would be nice of you to share your story here on this forum for anyone that reads the posts that have the misfortune to suffer from PCOS would benefit from how you overcame your problem with PCOS.

My daughter suffers from PCOS and there is no cure for this.  It can be managed by eating natural and healthy foods and sticking to a healthy diet and losing weight if someone is overweight, but this does not always work.  Some women have surgical intervention by surgically removing the PCO or by having a hysterectomy.

Pregnancy can also help to ease the pain and going on the contraceptive pill also benefits some women, this is because of the hormone levels.

Have you considered that at the age you are and with having the irregular periods that you are actually going through the change of life?

Your blood tests show that you do have an autoimmune disorder called Rheumatoid Arthritis.  You will experience good and bad days with this and stiffness and soreness in the joints. You should talk to your doctor about any medications that are available for this.   I do not know if there is any specific medication for RA, or whether you just take pain relief and anti-inflammatories.  RA also affects your internal organs.

Numbness in your hands and thumb are likely to be a carpal tunnel problem.  This is very common if you do any repetitive work (no matter what it is).  Discuss this with your doctor too and he will be able to confirm whether you do have carpal tunnel problems or not.  He may also refer you to have a nerve conduction test.

Rest your hands as much as you can.  You can also buy or the doctor may prescribe them for you, wrist splints that you can wear in the day time and at bed time if you have a problem at night time.

The hand problem may be due to your arthritis problem.

Best wishes.

The doctor may also consider about referring you to a rheumatologist.

Hi and sorry you have all these problems. Firstly,, are you sure you don't have a blood clot in the foot? It may be Arthritis like in the other areas that hurt. You need to start taking vitamin D and get that level to normal. My brothers girl friend was exhausted and her blood was drawn and her vitamin D was very low. They gave her a high dose of vitamin D and when she got to normal she started feeling energetic again. So, I suggest you ask the doctor that drew your blood how much to take?  You can try 1000 IU and retest in about 3 months and see where you are. It is different for everyone so you will have to retest until you get to the right amount. I take 1000 one day 2000 the next. My husband takes 4000 a day. So it varies. Vitamin D helps in a lot of things one is building bones so that is a big thing. Have you been tested for Rheumatoid arthritis? it might be a good thing to see if you are positive. You can try taking Ibupropin with food to see if that helps. But it can cause problems long term. Well, if you really are serious about changing your life. Look at the video Forks Over Knives. It is about how diet can really reverse your health. Also, the Starch Solution book by Dr. John McDougall is a strick diet change but if you can stay on it for life it will change your health and life. My husband was 210lbs and now he has stayed at 175 and his cholesterol dropped to 165 from 200 as did mine. His blood pressure went from 140/90 (too high) to 120/70 (normal). but this diet is vegan and so it takes a lot of change. You dont' have to do this if you don't want to stop eating meat. But you can still eat a lot of good food on the diet and you would surprised. So I always recommend taking a look at it. You can look him up on line as well. The numbness in your hands and thumbs. I'm not sure if that is carpal tunnel or related to a dietary deficiency or some other problem. I would talk to a neurologist about that if it continues. Have you checked your EKG for your heart to see if that is normal for the shortness of breath? I am trying to cover everything. Let me know if you have any questions or if I can help any more.
