neck swelling/lymph nodes?

Hey, I'm back.  Starting on Saturday, the left side of my neck has been swollen - as well as the lymph node under jaw.  I am a little concerned about it - but other than that, I don't have other symptoms.  I guess that I am just paranoid now that I know I have nodules on the left and right - but i am not the only one who has noticed the swelling.  My sister noticed it and asked about it on Sunday.  It is not so swollen that people see it and go "OH MY YOUR NECK!!!!!!" - But is swollen enough that you can tell it look different than the right side.  Anybody got any ideas?

Hey Duchess, no, not a goiter.  One hypechoic nodule and one hyperechoic nodule.  From the info I have taken in(too much!), one tends to be more on the side of cysts and the other can sometimes be of malignant nature. I don't think the risk is high but I still can't help but worry a little.  Geez, you had a rough week last week - You had every right to be upset!  I hate that you have been going through all this - it is exhausting physically and mentally.  I am glad that you are doing somewhat better.  I have been put on cancellation list already - told the nurse to make sure and she said I was.  So, now just crossing my fingers and hoping for something sooner. Keeping you close in thoughts and prayers.
Chris, I understand how you are dreading the neuro appt.  I was too, but she was very understanding and spent quite a bit of time with me explaining what tests would be run and what we might be looking for.  I read your post and what myproblem posted.  I also got a packet with a long form to fill out.  I put EVERYTHING on it and I thought to myself - there is no way that she is going to read all of this - but she did.  She went over each thing and asked my questions.  After all that was done, she did physical exam - asking me to walk on tip toes, checking my eyes, pushing and pulling, reflexes, etc.  I am having an EEG done on July 7, will have halter monitor for 24 hours (sheduling that), and scheduled for overnight sleep study to look at my REM sleep...something to do with the possibility of some other form of narcolepsy - Also, keeping in mind that she told me that some neuro problems can also come from some thyroid diseases/disorders...I sure am learning alot...I almost feel like I should have MD behing my name!  LOL!
Glad that all is better with you regarding the yeast!  It can be so miserable!  Every single time that I take antibiotics, I eat yogurt after each dose and so far this has helped and I have not had to take the pill or use the creams!
GP called in antibiotics for me to see if that helps with the swollen nodes - and I have stocked up on yogurt!
Take care!  And keep me posted!

How are the 2 of you doing?   I was so darned upset this past week, and now I have decided to just try and relax a bit and take my mind off of my problems, befofe I go insane.  My endo. said thyroid is normal just has a non-descript lump because of my Graves Disease. He says that there is no cure for Graves, but I am in remission right now. So, I am taking a break from docs.,hospitals and tests.  I am concerned about the 2 of you and know what you are giong through trying to find answers and feeling lousy.  I hope you find some resolution that will make you feel better.  Plese keep me posted.

My regular endo. couldn't see me for my regular appointment for months.  However, I asked that they put me on a cancellation list and thankfully I got an appointment sooner which is great since I had this "thing" show up on the ultrasound of my thyroid.  Ask to be put on a cancellation list. And by all means call every day if you have to just to check and see if there has been a cacellation.  Refresh my memory is this not a goiter?

Hey, thanks for understanding.  Life certainly is a B**** sometimes!  I guess maybe all this pity and anger is b/c I have to wait so long and I am scared I may have thyroid cancer, although I have read that it is very curable....thanks again.  Have a great night!

Hugs (((((((((chris)))))))) - I will! I am just having a rotten day - I guess weather may be affecting me today...been raining here for several days straight - wind blowing...hot and muggy - start to sweat as soon as you walk out the door!  I just really wanted to stay in bed today and pull the covers up over my head and sleep!  I guess I am having a pity party for myself.  I am just so tired of not feeling well.  I have two sisters who are very healthy - and I am always sick.  I guess there is a little jealousy going on there as well.  I mean, I have bipolar disorder, fibromyalgia, TMJ, horrible periods, supposedly going through perimenopause, all these neuro problems, the thyroid stuff - and I have no one else to depend on.  I have to keep going whether I feel like it or not b/c my son depends on me.  That is the only crappy thing about being divorced....you do it ALONE.....Hope you are doing better...sorry for the venting - AGAIN!!! lol :)

Hey yall, thanks for the ideas.  I am going to see gp on friday.  I haven't had a sore throat or cold or infection that I know of. Just wondering if this has anything to do with those thyroid nodules.  I guess I am trying to connect the two - but there may be no connection.  My gp nurse called today and told me that she tried every endocrinologist in eastern NC and it will still be end of July everywhere else too...so I guess I will stick with ECU School of Medecine in Greenville.  It's just such a long time to July 21.  My sister is getting married on the 15th - and I know it was a long shot - I guess I just want to feel better before then....but realisticly I know that thyroid stuff takes time.  Just so ready for this drama to come to an end!!!!!

What you have may be viral and antibiotics don't work.  I know that mononucliosis causes swelling of glands in those particular areas.  If thisis the case it can take several months to work it's way out of your body. I think with mono. you have sore throat too.

Hey there,

In the past when I have had swollen glands or lymph nodes, I was put on antibiotics.  There is a blood test for Sjogrens.  I have had it.  I have had dry everything!!  I don't have sjogrens, but with my thyroid issues, I get a lot of varying symptoms. With thyroid problems you can have dry eyes also.
