nerve problems, maybe......

For the last few weeks I have been experiencing what feels like a nerve explosion, it is like the nerves on the right side of my face are hyperactive and super sensitive.  The same goes for my left leg, if I touch one part of my leg, I feel it throughout almost my entire leg.  As for the left side of my face, my eye  has been starting to droop and my hair is even starting to fall out on the left side of my head, but there is no nerve sensitivity.  When I sweat, I sweat profusely on the left side of my body.  I have also been experiencing tingling sensations all over my head from time to time.  I've seen one doc so far and he told me that whatever I have isn't textbook and told me to wait it out.  I'm worried that I am developing nerve damage, I've also been in 12 car accidents, one that fractured my spine.  Help please.

I have a friend who had Bell's palsy some years ago . It's true they don't know what causes that, but he receied some medication until it went away, and it's never come back. If you can't get help from your Dr. then you need to go to another one. Waiting things out is usually bad advice!

So sorry to hear about your pain. I have been in several car accidents myself and in my youth suffered from a facial nerve problem called Bells palsy (which effects the eye. I would definitely recommend you DO NOT (repeat not))wait it out. There are Drs just for problems that are not textbook and they are called specialists, the one that you need to see specializes in nerves and is called a Neurologist. Take a little time through and call around or get on the net and check them out. Some specialize in brain disorders, epilepsy or sleeping disorders, narcolepsy movement problems. You will find one that specifically knows about nerves. Go there. But do go to a Neurologist of some kind. They can help.

Sorry to hear that you are so unwell had  have had no help or support from your doctor.

I do not know the system in the country where you live, whether you need a doctor's referral to see a Neurologist or whether you can get an appointment to see one without a doctor's referral.

In the UK, we would require a referral from the doctor to see a specialist, or try and get to see a specialist privately.

As you have got damage to your spine a lot of the symptoms will be due to pressure on the spinal chord or nerve pinching, but you do have other symptoms that need investigating.

I would suggest that you make an appointment to see your doctor - preferably a different one at the practice.  Make a list of all the symptoms before you go to give to the doctor.

You cannot just "wait it out".  There are too many things going on and you require immediate medical attention to find out the cause and be given the right advice and treatment.

Best wishes.
