Occasionally I get a numb "tight" sensation in my head, and it feels like I have a headband on and it's usually just on one side of my head. Its area is top front down to the ear area. I had an MRI brain scan done with the liquid and the Dr. couldn't find anything wrong. There were several tiny white spots, and he said it might be the beginning of Alzheimers, nothing to worry about, and that was it. I am female, aged 58 and have great health except for high triglycerides. I quit smoking (after 40 yrs) 3 years ago and hardly ever drink alcohol. Thanks for any help you can give me.

There can be some very simple causes of frontal (forehead) headache or tightness. Poor sleep, eye strain, refractive errors of the eye like myopia (near sightedness), temporal arteritis, compression of cervical spinal nerves (possible if you have dizziness too), and sinusitis are some of the common causes of frontal headache. First these need to be eliminated by your doctor before you can think of brain tumors and clots. Generally these also cause some neurological symptoms too. Tension headache if is the cause is often diagnosed by the symptoms alone. Keep a headache calendar, how the symptoms started, how they progressed, what medication you took and how and when they disappeared. Discuss these possibilities with your doctor. A comprehensive investigation is required keeping all the points in mind. Hope this helps. Take care!
