Have you had a ct-scan or MRI of your head or neck in the last 6 months or so?
I would tell your doctor if you have any of these symptoms and be specific as possible:
(Write it down or take notes)
1)You feel like throwing up(vomiting) in the MORNINGS after waking or after standing up
2)Do you wake up in the MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT with severe headaches and nausea
3)You have vertigo or feel "loss of balance" with movement or at certain times
4)You have sensitivity to light with blurry vision and HOW OFTEN with OR without headaches
5)DOUBLE VISION - phantom(faded) images coming off the sides of images you look at
5)Have you been sleepy/lethargic or have loss of tone or posture with behavior changes
(becareful not to mistake it for stress, puberty, or hormonal changes as an answer for this.)
6)Have swelling in face in the mornings or your EYES LOOK SUNKEN in at times.
7)Obvious pressure feeling behind eyes
All these symptoms my son had at different times that very gradually became more obvious and intense/severe. He was first dianosed with MIGRAINE HEADACHES without having a ct-scan at all. We took him to see a counselor/psychologist as his personality shifted(lack of fight), his grades eventually dropped to all D's and F's and he looked tired/depressed and was spacing out in class excessively. She could not find a solid prognosis. - Much later, ended up in an emergency room as the symptoms became so horrific. He was later in a childrens' hospital diagnosed with a type of BRAIN CANCER with a slow growing tumor that grew so big it eventually caused hydrocephalus(Cerebral Spinal Fluid).
We need better BRAIN TUMOR/CANCER awareness because it is usually rare to our primary care doctors and it can creep up on you over a long period of time (months to years)
Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
Poor sleep patterns like sleep apnea, restless sleep can trigger a headache in the mornings. You could also be having ‘benign intracranial hypertension’ (BIH). This happens due to impaired CSF absorption. A generalized throbbing headache worst felt in the morning and last thing at night. This headache is generally relieved on standing (consistent with raised intracranial pressure). It is aggravated by straining, coughing or a change in position. Sinusitis is another cause of morning headaches. It could also be cluster headache, migraine, or tension headache. Pinched cervical spinal nerve is another possibility. All these causes can make you feel nauseous too. Please consult a neurologist.
Another simple reason is very severe acidity and gastric reflux. It could also be hiatal hernia. Treatment is a combination of drugs to reduce the acid and lifestyle changes. You will need to take a combination of medications (under medical supervision) like a proton pump inhibitor such as omeprazole, lansoprazole or pantoprazole empty stomach in the morning and an antacid gel after meals for complete relief. Possibility of H pylori infection too should be looked into by a carbon urea breath test and a combination antibiotic tried. Many a times a persisting H pylori infection can be the cause behind acidity not responding to treatment.
Life style changes that will help include: Avoid heavy meals and eat frequent small meals. Avoid too much of caffeine, tea, smoking, fried food and drinks both alcoholic and non alcoholic fuzzy ones. Avoid heavy exercises within 4 hours of a heavy meal. Raise the head end of the bed by pillows to 30 degrees. Avoid lying down for least 2 hours after food. Maybe these tips will help you.
Take care!
Have you had your eyes tested lately? As in seen an optician and had a thorough eye examination and not just looked at some letters on a wall? This simply could be the result of migraine caused by poor eye sight. At your age it unlikely to be presbyopia, but, it could be..your eyes may simply have a problem focusing. Some people can see fine long and short distance, but it's the strain caused by having to constantly change from near to far sightedness that causes the eye muscle fatigue and the blood vessels to constrict and relax causing a migraine. You can get this daily under these circumstances. Could be caused in the morning as your eye muscles start their workout. This would be the first avenue I would go down..have them checked as opticians can see into the blood vessels and look for other problems that may be present. With any luck it is something very simple to treat.
I used to have similar symotoms. Once, I needed to take bloodwork for something else, and suprisingly I was low in iron, d, and b12. Did u check your levels? A low iron level could cause these symptoms. As soon as I took the vitamins, I felt the difference.
