I have had the same thing in my left leg - it's been about 2 weeks now for me. Started with some pain behind my knee, I couldn't straighten my leg all the way. Then the pain kind of moved down into my calf, affected my thigh a little, then behind my knee -- it's been on and off for 2 weeks. I tried icing it which kind of helped - tried wearing a knee brace, sort of helped. Now I'm noticing a big blue vein back there so I'm wondering if it's all from a new varicose vein...??? I do also have some back problems so I've thought maybe it was stemming from my back. I'm not really sure. No insurance, so trying to put off going to the doctor. Does the back of your knee feel more swollen after certain positions? Mine does after I bend/crouch/kneel down - it's like my whole leg feels swollen! (but it's not cuz I've measured it -haha)
Sorry, this really didn't answer your question -- just thought I would add my two-cents to the discussion...
Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
Pain in the leg the way you have it could be due to two main reasons. One is varicose vein. The other is compression of sacral spinal nerves or sciatica. You need to consult your PCP for confirmed diagnosis and further follow up.
It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Could be vericose vien but could also be a blood clot, which is very painful and very dangerous. Get to the doctor or clinic asap
