piercing head pain

Iam a 32 year old female with sharp, piercing pain on the right side of my head. The pain spreads down into my neck.  My right eye has become red, watery, and puffy, my eyelid seems to droop. I have a cluster of three lymph nodes that are swollen in my neck just below my right ear. This has lasted about three weeks….In need of relief any idea what this may be???

It sounds like it could be an infection.  Either of the ear or sinuses.  I would definetly recommend seeing your doctor as it has been going on for three weeks.

I would suggest seeing your Doctor right away. With the eye drooping that signals that there may be a problem more serious. I would probably go on to the ER and have some test run and see what is going on.
There are different types of headaches. Some will cause headaches on just one side of the head but the eye droop is not related I do not believe.
My husband has headaches and when he has the bad ones his eyes do water and turn red. He also has bad allergy problems.
You could also have an infection like Jadedsweetheart said.
We could guess all day long but the fact is you need to see a Doctor soon and find the cause and make sure it is not something serious that needs immediate treatment.
Please let us know ho your doing.
I hope your feeling better very soon:)

Have you asked your Doctor about something for the pain? Fiorinal is great for headaches. It will knock my Husbands out every time and his is so bad he is usually down for two days if he doesn't take the Fiorinal.
Other than that you can try peppermint oil and rub it on your neck and temples. Also neck massages seem to help my hubby. There is Excedrin migraine too which may help. I wish I could offer you more help.
Have you tried a heating pad on your neck?

You could be experiencing what is called Cluster Headaches. They are a severe form of headache that is similar to a migraine but are type specific and respond to unusual treatments. Go to the ER and ask for Oxygen. I know this sounds weird. But 15 minutes of pure O2 may be enough to break the headache if it is a cluster headache. I suffer from migraines and my neurologist's husband has suffered from cluster headaches for years. I tried the Oxygen therapy for a while on my migraines because sometimes it is effective to help with the severity of those too, but it works primarily on Cluster headaches. Typical migraine meds like Fiorinal, Muscle relaxers, etc. don't phase Cluster headaches. Zanaflex is effective on some Cluster headaches because it doesn't drag you down it does a nice job of sedating you for a short time and you are not hung over like most Muscle relaxers. Cluster headaches hit for some unknown reason for a short period and then leave for years and then can return again for some unknown reason. I would find a good Neurologist if this persists, but in the meantime, get some relief at the ER. 3 weeks is long enough to be in pain!!! Fiorinal causes rebound headaches, and you certainly don't want that.
