possibly staph?

I had a B.B. type bump under the skin on back of my forearm. it was painful to touch, but thought it would go away. 3 days later I don't feel the B.B. type lil bump, but it's red, swollen, extremely painful and warm to touch and expanding in mass, but still under the skin. I'm fishing and won't be on land until tomorrow or next day. Does this sound like Staph? I have cipro onboard and should I take this until I see a Doc?

I do not know what B.B. means, but I presume that you have a boil.

Apply heat compress to it a few times a day, this increases blood circulation to the infected area that facilitates the immune response to fight off the bacteria better by bringing in antibodies and white cells to the infected area.

You will need to see a doctor with this.  When the boil forms a head the doctor will be able to lance it to drain all the pus and rubbish out.
Although Cipro is sometimes used for skin infections, I have only ever been prescribed penicillin for boils and abscesses in the past.

As I am not a doctor, I am not in a position to say whether you should take the Cipro or not.

My advice is to apply heat compresses, take pain relief in the recommended doses and see your doctor as soon as you can so that he can prescribe the appropriate antibiotic for you and lance it if this ready to be done.

Best wishes.

Never take meds not approved for your problem.  It could easily be the wrong med.  Staph infections are notorious for being near-impossible to heal.  Keep the area clean, and cover it if it opens.  See your doctor as soon as you can.  Blessings - Blu
