severe pain in hands and balls of feet

hi can someone please advice.

since just before xmas my husband has suffered with severe pains. He thought he had been bitten on his hand and after that pain started on his hands, moving to his shoulders, knees, feet, fingers, spine, elbows.
the pain at the time he described an aching and pinching feeling. this got worse and there didnt seem to be a pattern as to where in the body the 'attack' would take place. He isnt one to moan but the pain has been etched on his face
the pain now seems to have settled in the balls of his feet, to the point where he cannot put any weight to the front of the feet and i have to help him with his shoes and sock. the pain is also in his hands - every morning he wakes up and any of his five fingers can cease up - normally 3 at a time. Sometimes the knuckles go red and cold to touch but again this isnt consistant with the pain.
he has been seen under a reumorthoid consultant and had various bloodtests - the consultant has ruled out reumothoid arthiritus. we are going for a second opionion. the first consultant talked about a pain doctor?

has anyone had any of the symptoms or can advice which other path to take to diognise my husbands pain?
thansk so much

Hi,
Is your husband a diabetic? He may be experiencing neuropathy and I agree with tdavidson, he needs to see a neurologist.
ALSO, he should be evaluated for fibromayalgia- it isn't just a women's condition.
Does he get a balanced diet and all of his vits and minerals? Sometimes magnesium deficiency can cause similar symptoms but don't go out and get some without seeing the neurologist first. Hope he feels better soon!

Have you visited a neurologist? Sounds like soome sort of neuropathy.  My 9yr old has similar pain and was just seen by a neurologist who gave her some meds to calm it down. Good luck, praying for him.
