spit blood

I have spat blood on and off for about 3 months. It happens anytime but not daily. The blood is fresh red and can be 2 to 3 mouths and sometime is streaks of blood. I don't feel any pain. Dental check was done early April and Dentist said my gum is fine.

I was confirmed suffering from GERD since 2000 after nose/throat scope and endoscopy. Then the symptom was streaks of blood but not mouthful of blood. I was on lansoprazole then. My x-ray, blood test, ECG and stools check in end of May 2013 were normal. The specialist has also checked my nose and throat in mid June 2013 and found normal. I was given omeprazole and taking 1 capsule twice a day since end May till now. No endoscopy was done this time as the doctor believe it is due to GERD. However, I am still spitting blood on and off.

May I seek your opinion is it due to GERD?

You're welcome!  Were you able to get an appointment with a prompt care doctor today and get a referral to a GI specialist?

If you haven't seen the doctor yet, besides the referral, you might ask them about an iron panel to make sure you haven't become iron deficient with the blood loss you are experiencing.

Yes, you're symptoms sound like GERD.

I was tested for tubeculosis test in 2000 without the Mantoux Test. The test result was fine. The doctor did not send me for this test this time. I am not sure the chest x-ray is for but the doctor in the Emergency Department said my chest is fine, no tumour or abnormality seen. I do not suffer from nose bleed. I feel bitter taste in my mouth at time and my throat doesn't feel dry most of the time

Thank you. :)

Very likely it is because of the GERD. When acid continually goes in to the esophagus, it tears up the lining in your stomach and throat. First thing for you to do is get the endoscopy. Tell your doctor that you want it ordered. If he refuses, which he can do, go to a gastroenterologist.

Have you been tested for tuberculosis with skin tests?  Was the x-ray a chest x-ray check for tuberculosis (TB) or other lung problem(s)?  Do you have a dry throat?  Do you have nose bleeds?

It sounds like you are having a lot of blood coming up when you describe mouthfuls besides streaks, it's been more than ten years since the scope you mentioned was done and I suggest it is utterly appropriate to pursue another E.G.D. scope (upper GI) test with a gastrointestinal specialist and to get it done as soon as possible.
