worried, please help me!

alright, im 16 years old, 5'2.5", 101 lbs.ive had emotional and physical problems for a while now, and I need some help. heres a quick list of symptoms:
1.discomfort in lump on right jawline (by ear). about the size of a cough drop (although it was smaller a couple weeks ago)
2.pain on neck/right side of face. I can't lay on my right side because it hurts too much. can't turn head.
3.nausea...which has definitely affected my appetite. especially after exercising
4.unintentional weightloss. lost 10 lbs in a couple months
5.mood swings/irritation/rage/emotional changes/etc etc
6.headaches. a lot. probably about 4 a week. and they're pretty painful. (throbbing pain on right side)
7.unable to breathe...especially after running. can't dance as much as I used to because I can't breathe
8.lightheaded/dizzy especially when standing up/exercising
9.sometimes a numb feeling on right side of face/neck/right ear
currently, those seem to be the major things, and I'm pretty worried about the lump, so a few more opinions would help me a lot. please!

Yeah. Oh ok thanks for explaining it to me. I really don't know. He took blood and tested it and told me that my iron level was normal and higher than it used to be (I was low in iron a couple years ago). He never mentioned ferritin.

Hi! Yeah it's been really frustrating, but I'm trying to hang tight.
The ironic thing is...my brother had lymphoma when he was a few years younger than I am now. His first symptom was a large lump on his neck.

Well, they look for elevation in WBC as a sign of infection, so I suspect he must be figuring your lymph node is not swollen due to infection.  Ferritin is your iron stores.  I was having symptoms like I was low in iron early this year.  I was tested for iron and ferritin.  And while my iron had dropped by more than half since the previous test, it was still in normal range.  My ferritin had dropped slightly, to 9, below normal.  Was your doctor comparing your normal iron level to a previous iron level and seeing that it was stable?  He should have checked your ferritin too.

Hi I was just going through your case(you have alot going on for such a young girl!) Way back in your posts you mention that your brother had an illness too. but you didn't mention his illness name. some time things run in families. maybe it would help if you could tell us what he was sick with.
thanks

Yeah I really liked this doctor because he got to the details in one appointment! He mentioned that infection was unlikely and something about my white blood cell count to be normal, so i don't know exactly what that means to me in the long run, but he didn't do further testing. Yes eveything seems to be taking a very long time and symptoms haven't really been getting worse since my last appt but they haven't been getting better either. I was told that my iron was ok. Ferritin..well I honestly don't know what that is. Heart rate and function is said to be normal. Ok

So, you finally got a doctor who figured out it's a lymph node?  Do they feel it is an infection or have they taken steps to rule out cancer?  It has taken way too long, it seems to me for you to get to this point.  No, it's not normal to have a reversal in sleeping behavior and to to feel out of breath, weak or sick!  Has anyone checked your iron and ferritin lately?  What about your heart function and rate?  See PM about lymph nodes.

Ok....the lump grew more. And still feels the same, if not strangely numb. And the tiredness/lightheadedness is getting worse, but I can never sleep a full night, but then I sleep till 11 and doze all day, so I almost get too much sleep, but I can't help it...I'm just so *tired*. I never have energy and I always end up out of breath, feeling weak or sick. Is this....normal???

What I meant was, if these recent headaches are not your usual old headache (if you indeed had previous headaches- which now I know you did), they should do a scan of your brain.  So, I hope you will ask for one.  And please drop me a PM with an update of any new developments!!!

Well, the headache isn't really too new to me. I used to get headaches a lot (and still do), but these seem more intense and more frequent, so I wasn't sure what that meant....

Hmm I'll ask about it....I honestly know nothing about diabetes, so...

Ok. Thanks

I thought of something later- if you haven't already or this type of headache is a new thing, you should talk to your doctor about getting a brain scan (cat or MRI), hopefully with and without contrast.  They really should have done that already, but if they haven't, it should get done!  My mom had the worst headache she'd ever had, her first migraine and they did a catscan and discovered a meningioma on her brain.  Some people have a blood vessel defect that can cause problems, so they should look for tumors or blood vessel abnormalities.

I'm not sure about type one (or juvenile onset) diabetes, but diabetes type II does not have to be inherited and can happen to  even younger people when they have certain risk factors.  I have some friends whose daughter was discovered to have juvenile onset diabetes & I don't know of anyone in their family that has the same thing.

Regarding the dysautonomia, you might see if you can get to a cardiologist or electrophysiologist and get a tilt table test.

yes. a doctor mentioned the possibility of migraines to me before, so I can see that as one of the problems...thanks

I have not had my blood sugar tested in a long time, but I have a question about Diabetes then. Is it genetic? If it is...then I don't think I have it because there hasn't been anyone in my family (including aunts, uncles, grandparents, etc) that have had diabetes, but I don't know how that works, really.

As for thyroid function, a counselor that I saw said that was a possibility too. I'll bring that up to my doctor...

Well, originally, it was he lump itself that hurt, but now the lump is sort of numb and everything around it hurts. Yawning, talking a lot, eating, and coughing all make my jaw and neck hurt.

I've heard the term, but I've never known what it was. That sounds....possible. Again, I'll bring it up to my doctor.

I'm not sure about the high blood pressure, but I'll take that into question.

Ok, I will. I am a vegetarian as well, but I eat a lot of high iron food. I'll get my blood tested though.

The one sided headaches- likely migraines (sounds like the kind of headache you are describing).  They are very painful and you should get a plan to deal with those.  You might visit the migraineure's support group on this website for a lot of suggestions and support.

Have you had your blood sugar level tested since these symptoms came on?  A person can lose a lot of weight (though typically very hungry) without trying if they have diabetes.  You can also feel tired from it.

How about your TSH & thyroid function?   The thyroid, when off-kilter can really throw the emotional situation out of wack.

Do you think the movable lump on the jaw is causing all the pain, or do you think the jaw joint itself is a problem (any clicking, or popping or pain in the joint when yawning, opening the mouth wide, chewing, or talking)?  TMJ problems might be one of your problems, but you really should get that lump checked out, because that doesn't sound related to me.

Have you ever heard of dysautonomia?  A number of your symptoms can happen to someone with dysautonomia (see forum on medhelp).  I myself have postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome.  This makes my heart race often when in a standing/upright position.  It also can make me light headed (common to people with dysautonomia) and make my vision start to gray or white out with standing or raising an arm at times.  I can get short of breath from the tachycardia.  Nausea is listed also as a dysautonomia potential symptom on pots place site.

If you have in addition to the headaches & mood swings, sweating and high blood pressure episodes and tachycardia (heartbeat going to fast), you might ask the doctor if they would order a fasting plasma free metanephrines test to rule out pheochromocytoma, a rare but very serious tumor.

It's definitely time to get your iron rechecked (and get a ferritin and T.I.B.C. or total iron binding capacity) .  A lot can happen in nearly 3 months time, especially to a menstruating female.  Symptoms of iron deficiency, even if your CBC is normal, can be tachycardia, shortness of breath, light headedness, fatigue, and I think headache as well.  So, please get it rechecked!

Well, I the lump doesn't seem to be physically connected, as I can move is around(it's under my skin), so I dont know if it rules out any of those.
Since some cancers are genetic, I've considered some of these possible, because my brother had cancer a few years ago and his first symptom was a lump on his neck/jaw, however, I don't really know much about these sort of things, so I'm not sure at all.
I have had some iron problems in the past, but those were solved fairly quickly with a high iron diet for about 6 months, so I'm not sure if perhaps they came up again. I had a doctor's appointment for headaches in early september, and they said that I was fine when it came to iron, but I think that's the only test they did.
Thanks!

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
The lump could be a lymph node or a bone swelling or cyst. It is difficult to comment without examining. This could also be TMJ. It could also be a boil or abscess as this is painful.
Since there is associated weight loss, either you are not eating properly due to the pain or there is prolonged infection or a STD like HIV or a lymphoma or any other bone cancer or tuberculosis that could be the cause.
The pain in the neck could be due to this swelling which can also cause the headache. It could also be pinched cervical nerves.
Since you are now easily breathless doing things you did earlier, get your complete hematology panel done. It could be due to severe anemia.
Also unintentional weight loss could be due to malabsorption syndromes.
The first thing to do would be to get your lump along the jaw line examined by your doctor. Also get your blood counts, hemoglobin and iron done.
Hope this helps. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!

Yeah, I considered anxiety, but I wasn't really sure. I'll definitely check out these sites, so thanks.
As for the lump, I will get itchecked out as soon as I can, it just seems to be kind of scaring my parents since that was my brothers first symptom when he got sick. I mean, I seriously don't think I'm that sick, but I still want an answer.
Thank you

anxiety can cause many of your problems.

wrong breathing habits without anxiety even can cause many of your problems... it's called "hyperventillation" (not necessarily anxiety related, but often is)

the free ebook below will explain to u how u can live without stress and anxiety :)
http://www.urbandharma.org/udharma4/mpe.html

the website below will explain how to breath properly
http://www.authentic-breathing.com/breathing_faqs.htm#difficulty

although you might want to consult a medical professional to guide you into healthy breathing habits.

if you have weird lumps and stuff show them to your doc.
the chance is very low it's something serious, especially since you're so young.
but let him check it out to be sure.
