Engorgement of the labia minora

Am a healthy 22 year old, I have had series of uti infection but last night after having sex with my boyfriend I noticed that my labia minors is severely engorgement and this is the second time am noticing something like that, but this one took more time to settle down. When I told my boyfriend who also happens to be a medical student his only response was that it is normal and that blood entered the veins thereby causing the swelling since I didn't reach my climax, of course I already knew this from one of my lectures, but am scared it might be something more cause it doesn't occur regularly and I never had any other sexual partner aside him..
Pls what do I do
