A related discussion,
intercourse after a & p repair was started.
I had an hysterecomty in 2005, had a bad infaction green foul smelling pus. this year I had shingels and it was ver painful now for the last passed two or maybe three months I have been having this dull pain in my back and on the left side like if well it feel like the same pain I was having before the hysterecomty as if I am having cramps. Very painful with a full blader and BM its really hurts.
I had an A&P repair Surgery in Oct. 05. I was married at the time and everything seemed okay
when we had intercourse. I've since divorced and hadn't been with anyone for a year. My boyfriend and I had intercourse for the first time yesterday, and he coulldn't penetrate me the whole way and it was extremely painful! He could tell that I was too shallow for him to fully penetrate. I also had a tiny pink bloody discharge for a few hours. My question is... Can this condition be reversed??
Thank you so much!
I had the exact same type of surgery done Feb 06. It takes a LONG time to heal from this, a very long time (at least it did me). Two weeks is nothing - I would wait until about 4-6 months and if you still have the pain, then see your Dr. about it. But honestly, my uro/gynecologist told me I would feel pain from this surgery for at least 2-4 months, sometimes longer. And honestly, my incisional pain did not go away until almost 1 full year. I "think" we had the same thing done anyway, I had the Burch Retropubic Urethropexy (bladder suspension) along with A/P Vaginal repairs, repair of rectocele and enterocele. I got those two lovely 'pokes' in my hinder too so they could run the thread or whatever to tack it up. Interesting surgery, I must say ;) Let me know if you have any other questions, I'll keep a watch on the board.
GOOD LUCK
You probably had a sacrospinous ligament suspension. In this procedure, the vagina is tacked up to the ligament which runs across from the tailbone to the iscium (another bone under the buttocks). This can result in soreness in the buttock area for some weeks. This can be relieved with motrin 400 - 600 mg.. As long as there is no "pins and needles" feeling along the cack of the leg, or numbness on the inner labia, these usually resolve with time.
