Sorry to read of your problem. If you were not having problems prior to your surgery I would expect you not be having problems now after your surgery. Your bladder can be evaluated with a test called Urodynamics. This is an easy test that can be performed in the doctors office. If your doctor does not offer this test, I would seek a second opinion from a Urogynecologist or Urologist. They should be able to help you. There could be a number of reasons you are experiencing retention. Only buy testing and examination can one rule in or out causes. Dr. Mathews
I was retainting before the op and I had an uydamatics about month before. They told me then I was retaining and wanted me to isc, but the gyno said wait until atfer the op. When I had the op I went into acute retention. They took the the cath on the 6th june. I could pee for 5 days After the 5 days I started retenting again. Last thursday the urine flow test showed that I was retenting about 390 to 200ml. Sience thursday It has been getting worst. Now today sunday. I passed100ml at 7am and 70ml at 1pm that all I had passed all day. Abuot 2pm I could stand the pain anymore so I rang NHS direct who promplty made me go the and e . When I got there they felt the bladder and said it was very destended and my tummy was also very bloated and detended. They asked me to go have a pee I passed about 100ml. Then they bladder scanned me there was 600ml retainted . So they have recathed me again . I aslo have a bladder infection. It took 3.5 min to drain the bladder. They drained of 800ml of unrine and they sent me home with a foley cath again.
