Bilateral chronic flank pain

I am a 37 years old female with chronic bilateral flank pain that is not constant but intermittent - I had several test done including but not excluding IVP/CAT SCAN (12 times) / checked for parathyroid / kidney function etc...although I have had 8 kidney surgeries within the past 19 months, most of the time (90%) of the time, stones do not show on CAT SCAN / KUB/XRAYS / IVP but are certainly present. Following my 3rd surgeries, my urologist no longer rely on such test since every time they showed negative, he found stones embedded on my kidneys. I can't continue to have surgery each other month and the pain is atrocious. I feel embarassed everytime that I call in for a visit or go to the er as my pain get out of control. Most physicians tell me that my pain is idiopathic and everyone is puzzled.  My main concern is that why do I continue to have UTI and kidney stones almost on a montly bases and how do I get rid of that pain? I am puzzled and so are the professional treating my condition. Although, IC is highly suspected, I don't understand why it seems impossible to have the correct dx. No medications helps to treat the prevention of the stones whether they are made of calcium or "infection stones"/struvite? please help

Hello flyinggee,

I do understand your problem well and empathize. I suggest you undergo an ultrasound procedure to understand the exact status of the disease well. Multiple surgeries are no good. Consume minimal possible quantity of milk, omit tomatoes from the diet. Take plenty of fluids throughout the day. This would help.
