Bladder polyp removal

Is a narcotic used to remove bladder polyps either orally or in the solution that it put into the bladder?

I was told this was done in office and a Vicodyn pill would be taken prior to the procedure.  I do not do well with oral pain meds (usually become extremely nauseous and vomit) and had read somewhere that an anesthesic could be put in the fluid that is used during the procedure.  If this is not done, I will ask for an IV anesthetic as I have been told they will be removing the polyps for biopsy (3 in all).  Thank you for your input.

Hi,

I dont recall if a narcotic is directly used to remove bladder polyps, however, the narcotic may be used to provide pain relief or anaesthesia in case a surgical procedure may need to be carried out.

Hope this helped. Please give us more information regarding the narcotic or the usage that concerns you.
