Extended UTI/Prostate problem leading to ED

Hi Dr.,
I am a 26 year old guy, and had unprotected sexual contact with a female in early February. 5 Wks later I had a small blister inside my foreskin (cleared up in 3 days and no blisters since) and urethral opening inflammation. I was swabbed and blood tested (multi-panel) and all came back negative. Since I have experienced recurring urethral opening inflammation. Roughly 5 weeks later, it seemed to travel down (to my prostate?) and my urination became frequent and weak and for about a week I couldn't get an erection. I went to a different Dr. and was given 10 days of anti-biotics. The symptoms improved after 5 days, but did not clear completely. About a week after taking the RX, the symptoms came back, and the prostate area problem seemed to be worse...urination frequent again, and now an erection problem that has stayed for 3 weeks. I saw a different Dr and was prescribed Acyclovir 400MG 3x day for a week, and 6 weeks of Doxycycline Hyclate 100MG 2x a day (I tested again for herpes exposure and was negative again). I am 14 days into that cycle. He did mention he was wondering if it could be a yeast infection.  The inflammation went away in the urethra area, but I am still have very inconsistent/weak erections.  I feel like I can't control whatever muscle controls the erections, and I still seem to have some sort of inflammation in the prostate although not as bad.  The problem is, I'm overseas and am supposed to be for another month.  Is the ED something I should be very concerned about or seek treatment quickly for?  I certainly don't want to ignore a problem that could be long-term ED. Any advice would be appreciated.

Certainly you could have a yeast infection to account for the skin "irritation" and this can be treated with an antifungal cream. Use it for a full ten days to make sure that you kill it off completely. Local trauma from frequest ly checking your penis may be part of the problem.I seriously doubt that you have any infection in your prostate or urethra. This type of infection does not, on a physical basis, cause erection problems. Concern regarding your experience can, however, cause this to occur. If you continue to experience difficulty with your erections, do seek the help of a urologist or sex threrapist. Do not let your symptoms persist without treatment. The longer that you wait to get the erection side of things cured, the more embeded the symptoms may become.

Hi,

It is quite possible that you have a yeast infection. I have had several and noticed small red bumps on the glans and foreskin. Some of them might have looked like blisters.
When I had this I also was not able to maintain an erection.
It is very important that both partners are treated at the same time. You can try the Canesten or Monistat creams. Retract the foreskin and cover the complete service of your penis. Return the foreskin and cover the outside up to the base of the penis. Do not stop as soon as the symptoms disappear. Try this for about 2 to 3 weeks.
Having been on antibiotics also makes yeast thrive. It can be very difficult to get rid off.

All the best.
