Irritated/inflamed prostate?

I've been experiencing frequent urgency to urinate for about the past year. Also I the urgency during intercourse. I've been seeing a urologist, and he's checked my prostate the fist time, the I had an exam where they pretty much looked inside my bladder and today I had received results from something they called FISH to check for cancer. The prostate check says I am good, or that it's not enlarged. My bladder is healthy, and the FISH showed negative on cancer. So the doc says I am physiologically healthy. I've been doing some reading online, and I've come across some articles which say that intense/frequent sexual activity may lead to irritated prostate. I've been masturbating a lot over the past year. I would like to know if that could be the case, and if so, how do I get back to normal? I've tried cutting down on masturbation for the past month as much as I could, which was the only thing I could come up with. Is there anything else that I could do to help it?

Thank you.

Thanks for the comments.
It later turned out that I had low tolerance for caffeine and too much of it in the diet: coffee, black tea, green tea, sodas... all put together. I stayed off caffeine for about three weeks and the symptoms went away.

take zinc supplements or eat foods high in zinc. You have a zinc deficiency(you lose zinc in semen, and also from taking in drugs such as chocolate and caffeine(that promote mineral losses through excessive urination). EAT BLUEBERRIES TO REDUCE INFLAMMATION WHICH IS WHAT IS CAUSING YOUR SYMPTOMS. STOP MASTERBATING(ALOT EASIER SAID THAN DONE) TO ALLOW YOUR PROSTATE TO HEAL. THIS WILL SOLVE MOST PROSTATE PROBLEMS. WORKED FOR ME. DOCTOR SAID I WOULD NEED LIFETIME MEDICATIONS.NOTHING WORKS BETTER THAN A PINT OF BLUEBERRIES FOR PAIN. BLEND THEM WITH ORANGE JUICE.

Hi,

Vitamin C is an essential micronutrient and does not harm you.
Did you notice ant change in your symptoms since you started taking the vitamin and zinc?

It would be best to consume food that has plenty of these two micronutrients instead of nutritional supplements.

Has the frequency of urination subsided?

Sitting in a hot bath for 10-15 min once or twice daily can relieve prostatitis pain and help recovery.

If involvement of the prostate gland has been ruled out, you will need to have evaluated other conditions, such overactive bladder, interstitial cystitis, diabetes, that could be causes of the frequency.

Hello,
so far I've tried taking 1000 mg Vitamin C and 50mg Zinc tablets. I stopped taking both about a week ago since from what I understand Vitamin C is used to fight infections and taking 50mg Zinc seemed unsafe, since I don't know what dosage of Zinc per day is safe. I've been checked for infection three times so far and there's nothing. I've come across something the call EZ Flow tea, which seems to be composed of natural herbs. They say it is a safe way, without any side effects to, to treat prostatitis. I am not sure though if the tea is intended only for men above forty. I am 25. Don't want to take anything that may make things perhaps worse.

Any further advice?

Thank you.

Hi,

It would be best to increase intake of natural foods that contain zinc.

Natural sources rich in zinc include shellfish , as well as liver, oxtail, and corned beef. Other good sources are nuts, wholegrains, and cheese. Wheatgerm, tofu, halva and figs also contain zinc.

However, you can also start the oral zinc if you fell that you will not be able to obtain the requisite amount of zinc for dietary changes.

Hello,

I started taking 1000 mg Vitamin C per day just over 10 days ago. I am not expecting any improvement this soon, but I can't help but wonder when I should notice the improvement. Also, I've come across some articles which suggest that prostate effected by prostatitis may require additional intake of Zinc. The article suggested amounts ~50mg/day. What is your comment on that? Also would taking aspirin or such have any positive or negative effect?

Thank you.

Hi,

Most individuals with chronic prostatitis have no underlying bacterial infection.
Even a single negative urine examination does not rule out the possibility of infection in the prostate. The urinalysis will need to be repeated to identify the presence of any infective organism.

Applying warmth to the lower abdomen or lying on a heating pad while on your back will also provide pain relief.

2000 cc is equal to 2000 ml. That means about 8 glaases of fluids per day.

Do keep us posted on your doubts and progress.

I did have a urine test for infection, and it also came up clean. I've also noticed that alcohol significantly increases the urge. I also read somewhere that applying warmth to the lower abdominal area may also help, but I don't know if I should trust that. In terms of volume of fluids you recommended to drink, what would 2000cc be in mL?

Thank you.

HI,
Have you had a urine exam done to rule out the presence of an urinary tract infection?
Do you have any burning sensation while passing urine? Or any pain in the lower abdomen?
It is possible that you could be having prostatitis.

It is possible that increased sexual activity could irritate the prostate and cause the symptoms you have described.

Cutting down on sexual activity to about 3-4 times a week should help provide some relief.
In addition, you can do the following:
Drink at least 2000cc of fluids per day.
Maintain hygiene.
Start taking ascorbic acid 1000mg per day.

Do keep us posted with your doubts and progress.
