Mild Testicular Discomfort

For the past several days I have had some mild testicular discomfort.  Nothing extreme, but definitely irritating.  I haven't noticed any swelling or inflammation, so I'm wondering what it may be.  Research done so far doesn't seem to suggest that it could be an STD, and a hernia seems unlikely.  I've never had any prostate problems, so I'm wondering what it could be.

There is definitely no redness, mass or pain.  Urination is normal and there hasn't been any discharge.  It's just a mild irritation in the testicular area.  I've had no problems achieving and maintaining erection and there is no pain in the tip or base of the penis.  I'm going to take an STD panel just to be safe, but I'm wondering if it may be an inflammation of the prostate or varicoceles.
