Pain in and around the head of penis

Lately, (the past 5 days) I have been feeling a stinging, pinching pain in the very tip of my penis and, lesser so, around the head of my penis.  I have been cleared of any STD's and don't have a very active sex life.  Recently, I had been masturbating once every day or two but haven't for 5 days now and the pain seems to be getting a little worse each day.  It almost feels like it's being rubbed sore while walking but there is no visual irritation, redness or swelling.

Any help would be very much appreciated.  I'm constantly on my feet and walking for my job (9-10 hours a day) and this is slowing me down and freaking me out quite a bit.

Oh, the reason I don't think it's prostatitis...the pain came back in full force 2 days ago and now there's a bit of redness and irritation just behind the rim of the glans.  From what my doctor told me and the research I've done, those aren't symptoms of prostatitis but more likely fungal infection.

Thanks again.

Cipro's not doing anything...back to fungal infection.  I've started using an anti-fungal cream and will most likely be calling the doc again this week.

Is there anything I can buy over-the-counter to help or cure?  Right now, I'm using Miconazole.

Thanks in advance.

Nevermind...Doc called today.  Turns out, it's prostatitis.  21+days of Cipro and he says I'll be fine.

Thanks again for all the help.

Alright, one more question...

Figuring it's due to injury, I've abstained from sex, masturbation and any kind of groin strain and, in the chance of it being some kind of fungal infection, I've been using a cream to fight it.  And over the past few days, the pain had all but gone away and I was starting to feel normal again.

However, I was at a friend's house last night, sitting on a stool and felt a pinch in the muscle that runs between the anus and the scrotum and, since then, some of the pain has returned.  Is it possible that all of these symptoms are really a result of Pelvic Floor Dysfunction?

Thanks in advance for your time.

Thank you very much for your help.  I really do appreciate it.  The pain is seeming to lessen but I am still going to make an appointment with my physician this week just to make sure.

Thanks again.

Hello,
If you are suspecting injury then avoid intercourse or masturbation for some days. Also wear cotton undergarments and apply some topical antibiotic cream. Taking oral antiinflammatories like ibuprofen/acetaminophen are also helpful.
But if the symptoms persist then all the conditions which I have mentioned earlier need to be ruled out.

I hope it helps. Take care and regards.

I'm not ruling out infection but I tend to suspect injury.  If injury is the case, what can I do about it?

Thank you very much for your prompt response.

Hello,
Such kind of pain at tip of penis can be due to infection, inflammation or injury along the urethra or the glans itself. In the absence of a significant sexual history, this may be due to a dermatitis, prostatitis or a fungal infection. Contact or allergic dermatitis may occur and may cause some of these symptoms. Another differential will be a lower urinary tract infection.

A complete physical examination by a urologist will be able to help. A urinalysis may be able to rule out infections in the urinary tract. Just prevent manipulation of the area as this may cause injuries and aggravate the pain. Wear cotton clothes and wash the area well.

I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
