Pain in the base of penis

Hello Doctor,
My penis base area on the surface of the nerve has swollen(it's more like a lump),when i touch the area i feel pain. What should i do for this? I haven't had sex. I am just 17. I think i have masturbated hard a few times recently and only after that did i get the lump. It pains when i touch it and when my penis is erected. Is it serious? What should I do?
Thank you!

First off, thank you! I did go to a physician and was told that it wasn't a hernia. He asked to not give it much attention and to wait for a few more days. And since then the pain has reduced to an extent. And the "lump" isn't there anymore either (although I did notice the lump once or twice a few days ago ONLY when my penis was erected). I certainly feel a lot better now. It would be helpful if you could tell me if I need any other treatment as the pain hasn't subsided completely and still persists whenever i masturbate.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello and hope you are doing well.

Masturbating is normal and is not known to cause any symptoms, side effects or ill effects. So, if you are experiencing pain, it is not due to masturbation. If you are worried or depressed about this there is nothing for you to fear. For your other symptom, the lump, it could be a skin infection or a hernia, you will need to consult your primary care physician who will examine you and determine the cause so that appropriate therapy can be initiated.

Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
