Painful bladder spasms

My 83 year old father has bladder cancer.  Last year, he had a tumor "shaved" but the cancer has spread to the bladder wall.  He is not in good enough health to have his bladder removed.  He has COPD.  He has a catheter thru the uretha and has undergone radiation therapy to try to shrink the tumor.  He just finished radiation therapy about 3 weeks ago.  His bladder spasms are more frequent, with a lot of burning.  We were hoping to get the tumor shrunk enough so he could have a SP catheter.NOTHING seems to relieve the painful spasms.  He has tried several pain medication, but nothing is working.  Does anybody have any suggestion to help with the painful spasms?  Thanks for all your help

Hi dr_simran,
Thanks for your response.  My dad is scheduled to have his tumor reevaluated in 2 weeks.  We think that it may have shrunk because he doesn't have very much bleeding.  I don't think he is in good enough condition for surgery as he has moderate to severe COPD and is very weak from all the pain.

Hello bettyrowe,

I do understand the problem well. What is the exact status of the carcinoma mass right now? Is the surgery being planned. Hyoscyamine is the agent can be used to relive pain along with the painkillers.
