Painfull morning erection-Why? What to do?

Hello,

I am 27 and during the past 2 years I have been having occasional painfull morning erection. It happened once or twice before (4-5 years), but only now it became more frequent. I have normal morning erection every other day, but once every month or two I have one that ranges from mildly painfull to very painfull and can last upto an hour.

I have a normal sex life and I don't have any erectile problems.

Most of the times it happens without any obvious reasons. Sometimes I noticed that it can happen if I have a tight underwear that keeps the penis in a bent position while sleeping and if I have a LOT of sexual activity during the previous day, but this is only 25-35% of the time.

I can't make it go away neither by ice/cold water or ejaculation. The only way that I can sometimes make it go away is by sitting at the computer and working on something that takes my mind away from the pain. It also might be usefull if I put on the chair a small object that presses against the muscle between the anus and the scrotum, but I am not sure if it is a coincidence or not.

At a certain moment I can feel that the area relaxes and the blood inside loosens up. The pain goes away with just some mild feelings of it. Even if I get a new erection 2 minutes later it doesn't hurt any more.

Could anybody tell me why this happens, if there is anything to do to prevent it and most of all what to do when it happens in order to release the pressure?

Thank you.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
Some of the reasons for painful erection in the morning are over stimulation, phimosis and tight skin, peyronie’s disease, priapsim(frequent or prolonged erections) or lichen sclerosis. In peyronie’s disease, there’s a marked curvature with thickened chordee on the underneath of penis.  I suggest you to get an evaluation done from a urologist.
It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
