Hi
Were they able to initiate therapy for the proctalgia fugax?
Are you taking any medications for the condition?
Prostatitis may be considered here and I think you have also been assessed along this line. For chronic pain in the groin or perineum , then chronic prostatitis has to be considered. The thing about chronic prostatitis is that it may be present without inflammation. This is referred to as prostatotodynia. There are no definite guidelines for managing this form of prostatitis as they may last for quite sometime. Supportive therapy through pain medications, sitz bath and antibiotics have been used.
Was a prostate ultrasound done ?
I have had a few incidents of Protalgia Fugax, but mine was text book. Both times I was sound asleep, and both times I was awakened by a severe pain , in what felt like was, my colon. Horrible pain! I felt like I had a bad cramp or something. Both times the pain subsided within a 1/2 hour, and I felt like I had to have a BMfeel while I was going through the pain in order to relief. (I didn't, but thats what it felt like I needed to do) These incidents happened about 6 months apart. After the last one, I researched on line, and found a discussion about Protalgia Fugax, and it was an exact match so i didnt go to the doctor about it. Your symptoms don't sound anything like what I had though. I think Protalgia Fugax predominately occurs during sleep. I wish you luck though, there is nothing worse than chronic pain.
