Unexplained Itching

I have an itching JUST around the left and right base of my penis, its not on the shaft itself, but on the skin below it, the skin looks a little shiny, and I shaved to take a closer look, this only made me itchier, but I expected as much because I normally dont shave down there anyways... I assumed it was dry skin so I stopped itching (when I did itch, it wasnt heavy, just a quick touch or so) and I applied vaseline,  it made it itch less, but the fact that the hairs in the area were shaved and coming back in made it itch worse.

What is this? STD? Dry Skin? Too much dry masturbation? Im completely confused. (currently it doesnt bother me as much as it did before, but mainly because the hairs are already in again).

When did the itching start? Not entirely sure, kind of a natural reaction to itch your crotch if it feels weird.

Thank you, the itching has gone down since the hairs have grown in, only problem now is ingrown hairs, which is a pain, but I can fix that easy enough, the skin around the base of it is still shiny, probably just from general friction as I walk or something, but again, for the most part, it doesnt itch anymore, it was probably just dry skin.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi there!

Itching also known as pruritis, is a symptom of a wide variety of mild to serious conditions. It can result from dry skin, infection, inflammation, allergy, insect bites, fungal infection, dermatitis, allergies, hives, scabies or liver diseases causing jaundice etc. I would suggest switching your body moisturizer to something used specifically for dry skin and trying some OTC anti-pruritic medications. If you do not see an improvement you may consider an evaluation by a primary care physician or a dermatologist for an accurate diagnosis and appropriate management.
Hope this is helpful.

Take care.
