Urinary problems & Ejaculation probelms

Hi Doctor,

I have a couple of questions regarding Herpes & the urinary problems it can cause.  When they say Herpes causes urinary problems, what do they mean by that?  I have been having dribbling problems after urinating for some time now and my urine stream is quite slow as it takes forever for me to get all my urine out and it seems to be almost sticky like when it nears the end of the stream, it like comes out in big large droplets, almost like globs....I will from time to time expierence a clear sticky substance which secrete's or discharges from my penis, just a very small amount but enough that it is very bothersome.  Is this something that is Herpes could cause?

When I ejaculate i have semen drip out of my penis for hours afterwards... even after I have gone pee.  Just a small amount but enough to make me concerned, would this have anything to do with Herpes?  Could it be possible that HSV could be causing me all these problem?  I had received unprotected Oral sex quite some time ago and all these problems seems to have been happening to me all at the same time along with sore testicles, sore back, redness on my penis shaft etc.    another one of my concerns I have is that after a strain during a bowel movement I will get these blotches on the tip of my penis, weird blotches that i never ever used to see on my penis.  Also besides semen dripping out for sometime after ejaculation the tip of my penis gets really red and my testicles tingle.  My testicles have been tingling everyday for the past year....Should my privates go back to normal if I did have Herpes?  Im talking about the tingling and redness, should I be able to urinate properly again?

Thank-You in advance.

I forgot to add that you should see a urologist regarding your stream/dripping to get evaluated for a possible stricture.

Herpes Zoster can effect your urinating when the infection is involving a spinal nerve. Genital herpes does not typically have any effect upon voiding. Given your description, I wonder if you have a narrowing in your urethra (stricture) that is obstructing the flow of urine/semen and actually partially trapping these fluids, thus leading to their dripping out over a period of time.
The penile changes which you observe while straining are due to the pressure that you develop in your pelvis and the effect of this on the blood flow from your genitals. Don't strain so hard.
Your genitals should not appear/feel different than normal between outbreaks of genital herpes. The redness of your penis after sex is most likely related to friction and anything that you may be putting on your penis (lubricants/condoms/vaginal foams). I cannot explain the tingling except that you are certainly concentrating on your genitals and I suspect are acutely aware of every little thing associated with them.
