Why does my vagina itch?

I had a Uti recently for 3 days from Sunday to Tuesday. On Wednesday I experienced an itching sensation around my vaginal opening and slightly inside. I had gone to the washroom several times that day and one time I wipped and saw some blood. On thursday in the morning the sensation had left but returned in the night once again. Today it is followed by a slight urgency to pee. I have not engaged in any sexual activity this week, have not experienced any discharge, and had my period this month from the 12th to 17th. Is there any suggestion of what is happening or how to cure it? Food and drink recommendations?

Were you treated with antibiotics for UTI? If so, they can wipe out normal vaginal flora and that allows yeast to grow. Some women must take medication to prevent yeast infections while taking antibiotics. You can try over the counter remedies for yeast infections, or yogurt everyday will help replace the "good bacteria". Please seek medical advice if this does not go away. Also if you didn't get your UTI treated then it can cause more serious conditions such as kidney infections. UTI's are caused by bacteria and need to be treated with antibiotics. Good luck!!
