alpha hemolytic streptococci

Hi, I was after much back and forth diagnosed with abundant alpha hemolytic streptococci in the urethra, by a urologist. Was put on Keflex for 3 weeks, which seemed to help for a while. Still have problems, though. No STD, but my wife has the last year had two episodes of UTI with the same bacteria. Is it contagious? And if so, is it contagious for the baby she is carrying?

Symptoms include constant tingling in scrotum, on and off urethral pain, lower abdominal pain. (another thing, which might not be related, is that we both at the same time got this horrible mouth breath. It does not go away, it has been more than a year.)

It seems I (we) don't get rid of this bacteria, and my doctor tells me it is nothing to worry about. I am not sure about that, and at least it is annoying me on a daily basis.

At this point I don't know who to contact and where to go from here. If you could suggest some direction to an expert or give another advice, I would be very grateful.

Thanks in advance.
