So I am going to the doctor tomorrow. I am scared to get an colon test done because I have never had surgery an I don't want to be put to sleep for nothing. That is bad tho. I have a lot of bad things happen to my family from surgery. I think I will not wake up.. The last time I had this happen the doctor said eat more fiber I did an it constipated me.  That was not pleasant for me.

Thank you for your response drjsingh.

Recently, I too have noticed some bright red "spotting" on my toilet paper when I wipe after a bowel movement.  It's very light and doesn't last long.  At first I thought my period was starting, but now I know it isn't that.  Sometimes there is sharp pain associated with passing waste, like having a scratchy tree branch come out of my butt.

I've never had anything like this before and I wonder how serious it is.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
Bloody stool means that there's some sort of injury or disorder located somewhere in your digestive tract. The closer the source of bleeding is to the anus, the brighter red the blood will be. This is because the bacteria in your digestive system work to break down the blood as it passes through. So the longer blood stays in your digestive tract, the darker it will become.

If the bloody stool is bright red, then it could be due to hemorrhoids or anal fissures. The causes of bloody stool that is more maroon in color is intestinal polyps, inflammatory bowel disease or diverticulosis (diverticulosis causes significant bleeding)
Bacteria and parasitic infections can also cause these symptoms. So Pls get stool examination done. Pls consult a physician to find out the confirmatory diagnosis as treatment will depend on the same.Without physical examination and investigations, diagnosis is difficult.

I hope that helps. Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional doubts.Kind regards.
