constant urge to urinate and anxiety

I am a healthy 39 year old female who started having an overwhelming urge to urinate before bedtime (had recent panic attacks in the middle of the night so i attributed it to fear of going to sleep). About 2 1/2 weeks ago the urge started lasting all day! No UTI and my urologist put me on detrolLA about 8 days ago. I still have a constant urge to urinate. I make myself wait at least 2 hours and can make it up to 3 but it's terribly irritating. I can sleep comfortably for 5-6 hours without waking up to go to the bathroom. I can exercise and do not lose urine. I have no pain. I recently had a physical in September and my TSH level was 5.5 and my doctor is going to re-check my thryroid in November. I just want to know if i will have to deal with this for the rest of my life or if it will eventually go away! How long will it take for the detrol to start working? I do have a history of anxiety and do feel there must be a link. Any words of encouragement or what to do next would be helpful. I thank you in advance for your help!

Hello
I am new here and posted a similar message. I feel I have symptoms of generalised anxiety disorder and not sure if they are panic attacks as such but at times I feel sick, my heart races and my chest feels tight and I feel sudden urge to pass urine or open my bowels. It has got worse during a recent period of stress.
When you pass urine, is it a large amount? It is with me, even when I haven't been drinking that much water.
