enlarged vein on penis

I am a 39 year old male and recently I have recently noticed what appears to be an enlarged vein that runs around the width of my penis, just below the head.  It causes some discomfort when touched but it is not extremely painful.  It is definitely not normal however.  Do you have any idea what this could be, what could have caused it, and what kind of treatment I might need?  Thank you for your assistance.

FYI My husband had this about a year ago... and his urologist also had him take a daily asprin.  The urologist said it should go away in about 1 week, but it took about 3 weeks with the low dose asprin treatment.

What you’re suffering is known as Mondor’s disease in which there’s inflammation for the superficial veins of the penis and one of the commonest causes of the same is vigorous sexual activity. Abstinence from sexual activity is important. Use of aspirin & anticoagulants like heparin are common. Anti-inflammatory drugs not only provide the pain relief but also tend to decrease the inflammation. I’ll suggest you to consult a urologist for the same as confirmation of the diagnosis is possible only after the physical examination and an ultrasound Doppler of the penile veins.
