How are you? Recurrent kidney infections may result from an underlying medical problem, such as a structural abnormality. A patient who has had a urostomy may have a higher risk of  experiencing any of the following: kidney damage, infection, or failure, displacement  of the stoma and infections to the urinary tract, fever, hernia, urinary problems, chills or blood or pus in the urine.  Aside from the increased fluid intake and emptying the bag often, Vitamin C supplements can prevent infection- and odor-causing bacteria from accumulating in the urine.
