medicine interaction question

I'm taking Septra (Sulfamethoxazole) for a UT infection and I wanted to know if tylenol, ibuprofen, or midol would interact with the medicine I'm already taking

Hi,

Septra does not interact with any of the above drugs.

However, Septra is known to cause several adverse reactions severe intensity and chronic duration. If you should develop any of the minor or major side effects reported to have occurred with Septra, do contact your doctor immediately and discontinue any further doses of the drug. Some of the minor side effects include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, anorexia, abdominal pain, joint pain, pain in muscles, cough, and shortness of breath.

Additionally, both tylenol and Midol contain acetaminophen, so it would not be a good idea to take the two together. Similarly, the Midol (cramps and body aches) contains ibuprofen and should not be taken with an additional dose of ibuprofen.

You can read up more about the drugs interacting with Septra at the link posted below.

Do ensure that you maintain adequate fluid intake (about 2000 ml) while on these drugs and avoid alcohol as alcohol interacts adversely with Septra.

Do keep us posted.
regards,
