penile shrinkage

what can cause a normal size penis to shrink to a baby size? is there an underlying medical condition that can cause this? I had a generous size penis and it is gone, it started at age 44 and I am now 55 and it is about 1 inch and i am not able to obtain an erection. Viagra does not work have you ever heard of this? or am i a unique case?

My wife has been in a horrific car accident and it killed her mother and nearly killed her. I did stick by her, but things have been very tough. I was a very strong willed person, and my penis was regular size. But the constant pain she is in and resultant meanness and coldheartedness have taken their toll. About a year ago, I basically gave up on pushing for sex and now only occasionally do I ask for it. Tonight was one of those nights. It all ended in a huge fight.

I have noticed, especially in the last 2 or 3 months that my penis is much smaller.  I was actually shocked at how much. I measured it "on" (you know what I mean)  and incredibly it was 3.5 inches.  That has led me here tonight.

I always knew there was a link between penis size and self esteem, but NOW I believe there is a link between self esteem and penis size.  I believe my lack of confidence, lack of self worth and motivation has changed my penis size. And I've actually lost 10lb, so it's not body fat.

And even more strangely, I am somehow turned on my my new small size..... so strange..  If you had told me this a year ago, I would have flat out denied it and if you pushed, I would have beat your ***.  Now, I'm certain it will be shrinking down to 2 inches before the summer.  I don't get it...

Guys, testosterone replacement will only make testicular and penial atrophy worse.  Ask your doctors about putting you on Clomid therapy. It will reverse testicular atrophy and penial atrophy will stop and at least somewhat reverse. While Clomid is not currently a recognized drug for this purpose, there are several studies that have concluded it works. Body builders have been using it for years to combat this very thing after high doses of anabolic steroids.  Check it out. If your condition is cause by a blockage or another underlying medical condition or testicular removal, it my not help. In the case of testicular removal and subsequent penial shrinkage it matt or may no but worth a try. With testicular removal, you must stay on replacement therapy as well. I'm not a doctor, but the research on this is fairly easy to understand. Just Google the effects of Clomid in men, medical studies.

I take testosterone gel; and it shrinks things even more; not make them bigger as you would think.  I am not sure what to do of if I can get it back.   From reading on here; I did not realize that area could get atrophied.   I'd rather have nothing down there and have everything removed than have a humiliating baby sized one.  Has anyone ever had it all removed to avoid that situation; and is that even possible?

Fallsman, are/were you on any drugs for hair restoration, prostate reduction, or water retention?  I have heard that some of these can have an effect on male gentiles.  Did it only effect your penis or did your nuts shrink too?  Also, where exactly was the lump you spoke of?  It could be blocking blood flow and causing atrophy.  Do you wear boxers or briefs?  If you wear briefs, it may be enough to push and position that lump in a blocking way.  Changing to briefs may arrest any further shrinkage.  However, if it is an atrophy effect, it may be a somewhat permanent condition.  But arresting it may still lead to some bounce back depending on what it is.

I know it has been several months since you posted your message, I am hoping that you might post an update as to what has transpired since then.  Do you have any more info, any new info, any answers, any other symptoms, any penis left?  We would like an update to this perplexing situation.

Ten yrs. ago lump occurred in penis. Not found to be tumorous. Urol. dr. said it should eventually go away. Was told it might be due to previous injury I had on a bike yrs. before. It got a lot smaller, but tiny lump still there. But then I started experiencing rapid loss of muscle to where it became baby sized in matter of months. No erection possible, but still able to achieve orgasmic sensation without any ejaculation. Am only able to mast. even without erection, but actual sexual activity with women is impossible. What is this disease/disorder? Is it reversible?

I believed that penile athrophy was not really possible and was of oter causes. Just recently I came accross an article that mentioned that it does happen to some males. Stupidly enough I did not book mark it so I have not been able to find it back.
As I have mentioned in a previous post, I thought that my problem was due to no longer being active due to neurological problems. As a result I have gained some padding around the penis and scrotum. I also mentioned that I had suffered from ED but had that treated with Caverject injections. I also mentioned that I lost my left testicle after complications, infection after a vasectomy.
the part that does not make any sense is the fact that I have been on testosterone suppliments by monthly injections. that should and did bring testosterone levels up to where they should be. In 2006 I had emergency surgery to have a right incarcerated inguinal hernia repaired. This caused some swelling on the right side and has caused my penis to curve towards the left side.
my biggest problem is the fact that I have a neurogenic bladder and after having been self cathing for years I might have caused a fistula between my prostate and rectum when the catheter pushed through the prostatic capsule into the rectum instead of going past the prostate into the bladder. Several cystoscopies with my last one having been in march of 2011, showing a hole between the prostate and rectum. because of that I have had a suprapubic catheter in for almost going on to four years now. Because of a neurogenic bladder, if the fistula was to be succesfully repaired I would have to start self cathing again and run the very high risk of creating a new fistula. Because of that the urologist is no longer willing to do a repair of the fistula. One oif my options is to remain with the suprapubic catheter for the rest of my life. Because the catheter is located between the navel and penis it is at the exact area where the waistband from pants make contact with the catheter. During the larger part of the day wearing pants there is movement of the catheter against the bladder wall. This causes a lot of irritation in the bladder resulting in bladder cramping and spasms. When this happens I have no control over my bladder and at times instead of urine draining through the suprapubic catheter, urine leaks from the penis in an amount to large to be absorbed by protective briefs or diapers. At times a lot of urine can leak at one time resulting in wet pants.

To cope with this poroblem I have been using condom catheters that allow urine from the penis to then drain into a leg bag. Her is where the strange problem comes in. I have not gained weight and have actually lost some weight. There is no increase of fat padding around the penis or scrotum. My remaining testicle after the hernia repair has been pulled up higher into the scrotum giving the appearance that I have not testicles at all. No big deal, just my wife, I the doctor and a home care nurse get to view the package.

The problem is that the penis has decreased in lenght even more. My testosterone levels are where they are supposed to be and I have even noticed a bit of a spontaneous erection at times. This has not happened on its own from 1996 untill just a few months ago. The reduced length of the penile shaft is a mistery. If it was just the appearance of the penis having decreased there would be no problem. With the suprapubic catheter in the location where it is at makes the possibility of intercourse impossible anyhow. There are other ways to be intimate with my wife. The fact is that I need a certain amount of penile lenght for the condom catheter to make a seal on the penile shaft. Even now when I'm able to get a spontanuous patrial erection, it looks like just the glans is poking out. Being uncircumcised if I get the catheter roled on it only has a very smal sealing surface on the penile shaft. With the movement of the foreskin and the penis retracting when flacid the catheter is only attached to the foreskin. the catheters come in different diameters but since the foreskin had no firmness to it the catheter does not stay on. Some catheter suppliers recommend circumcision but that would only result in the sealing surface then being on the glans itself. I can just immagine the pain.

There has to be a medical reason why my penile shaft has disappeared. I have a fast to rapid resting heart beat 90 to 110 at rest. Blood pressure of about 145/95 and high cholesterol. I'm on three different hypertension drugs but nothing for cholesterol. Some doctor must know why some men have this. It is very important for me to stop it and hopefully reverse it. Some doctor please help. I'm desperate.

Thanks,

Ron

Have you had surgery?  I have the same problem after gal bladder surgery.  Woke up and found my penis almost non-existant.  Have had problems every since.  Went from 5 3/4 inches to 3 after ten years.

I think your testosterone is gone, you need to get your blood tested for it.  I experienced a similar thing, penis shrunk and kept shrinking until it seemed the size of a baby's penis.  My doctor tested by testosterone levels and she said that I was at castrate levels.  Upon further examination she said my testicles had atrophied and were actually dead.  She set up an appointment with a urologist and because atrophied organs can sometimes become cancerous, I had them removed.  So I was castrated but was actually a eunuch actually before the surgery.  The doctors believe that I had destroyed my testicles from a straddle injury that occurred in a motorcycle accident two years before.  However, I started receiving testosterone replacement, in a gel form, and my penis started growing and I started having erections again.  What a difference. So even though I no longer have testicles, I feel better and more sexual than ever.

Hi, I have the same problem at 45 and use caverject to obtain an erection. Viagra had no effect on me but the caverject does work. During an erection I get about 5 to 5.5" I used to be larger. In its flacid state it can come down to about 3".  I believe that it has to do with gaining weight due to a disability. I don't consider myself obeise, but I did gain some weight since my disability. I also use monthly testosterone injections to keep my levels up.
Inquire with your doctor about the California Tri-mix that I use. I had no response to Viagra at all.

All the best.

Ron

Were any of you fellows on Risperdal? That can cause genital shrinkage due to raise prolactin.
