problems after varicocele surgery

Hi, I had varicocele surgery 4 days ago on my left side, and now if I walk or do anything other than lying in a bad I have pain in my left testicle, that maybe sounds normal,  but what scares me the most is that when I touch my left testicle there is big swelling and stiffening of, not the testicle itself, but of some cord that connects to the testicle from the body..it was not like that before the surgery And the pain is not getting weaker as the time goes..  Could that be some serious problem?

Oh, and read your post-op instruction sheet.  It should be helpful.

A certain amount of swelling is normal after surgery, but it's also normal for patients to not know what is normal swelling and what is a sign things are not right.  Is the area hot?  Do you have a fever?  Is it red and not improving?  If any of these things are true, call the surgeon to see if you need to be seen early but it's probably about time for your post-op visit anyway so the surgeon can check you.  Don't miss your appointment.
