what is the interpretation if there is a calcium oxalate (few), specific gravity of 1.030, pus cells 10-15 hpf, epithelial cells abundant and bacteria few?

My doc has scheduled another cystoscopy with bladder wash. I researched this and found that what he's looking for is possible bladder cancer. I have a h/o urine retention w/hypotonic bladder, neurogenic bladder, and had an interstim implant in March.  F/up appt in June (3mos) went well, no problems, despite his comment that "if its not broken, don't fix it" with regard to keeping me on Flomax.  Yet, a mere 2.5 mos later, he sent me to ER with urine retention and I was Foley'd for a week (til I saw him). When inserting Foley, nurse commented that there was "resistance" and I was swollen. I told her that I had been dealing with a severe stream reduction, more like a trickle, for the past 3 weeks prior. I also felt like I wore tight jeans, with that seam thru the crotch feeling, yet I only wear sweats and other loose fitting clothing, as I'm in a w/chair.  It was the best I could describe how I felt, yet nurse said "it explains what she was seeing." I still don't know what that meant, and it wasn't put verbatum in my ER report, so the doc can't read about it.  Yes, I'm a smoker. U/A done that day drawn directly from the Foley bag, showed a 20(H) under squamous epithelial, which from what I researched, usually indicates "contamination." Couldn't be in my case. Does this coincide with his possible dx, or is it more indicative of UTI? I've been keeping a diary now and the "trickling" comes and goes in 2-3 day waves. Obviously, I'm not emptying my bladder when I only get 50-76ml then, and have to self-cath (which is hard and I hate it!).

Hi,
How are you? Urine analysis is interpreted depending upon the consituents of its examination. Presence of puss cells and bacteria indicates infection. Presence of epithelial cells is usually common if they are below 5, but in your case they are abundant, that means there is damage of the tubules of the nephron due to infection.

Specific gravity between 1.013-1.040 is considered to be of concentrated urine. It indicates the presence of protein, which can appear in infections and kidney damage conditions. Presence of calcium oxalate is suggestive of stones in the urinary tract, but should be confirmed with an ultrasound and symptoms.
Overall impression is urinary tract infection with or with out kidney stones.
All the best.
