Help with Vitamin D Deficiency

OH GOSH,  it is so fantastic to find this forum.   I truly thought I was alone.  Back in 2011  I was bit by a tick.  Several months later I started with odd symptoms and attributed these symptoms to the tick bite.  Though that still might be possible (i was treated with antibiotics for months going on symptoms) I know realize this may have been an odd coincidence.  My symptoms then stared with tinnitus in both ears, then headaches, fatigue, weight gain, anxiety, and LOW VITMAN D.  Started out at 29, then 24, then 23 then 19 then 11.  Doctors did not give a darned about the vitamins d aspect.  After the antibiotics were done, I continued to have the tinnitus and all the symptoms.  But the doctors did not want to check on the vitamin d again.

Now in 2014, I had a tooth just come loose, no trauma (by the way I am 67 with all my teeth.  Then I got a left glad in my neck swollen and then my tongue started getting huge cracks! Painful as the devil. The tongue became beefy, scalloped, coated and red tipped. It was horrible.  My doctor sat on the internet looking up glossitis and said he had no idea what to do.  I started taking greek yogurt because it helped ease the pain.  Hence gaining weight because I was eating 10 or more greek yogurts a day!!    The doctor tried a "magic mouth wash"  ...nothing.   I got a bad case of bronchitis and after a Zpak the swollen glad went down a wee bit and the tongue improved a bit. The cracks weren't quite a s bad.  But, then everything just stayed the same.

I finally got the doc to test my Vitamin D and now I am down at 19.  He said that isn't too bad !! AGHGHGH!! But has put me on 50,000 IU of Vitamin D a week.  TWO DAYS after taking the 50,000 Vitamin D the gland went down dramatically !  Not quite "normal" but darned near close !  WOW....

I can only think that my vitamin D never got back up since it was noticed in 2011 (how long was it low before that no one knows).

Since the gland has improved I am so hopeful that everything else might ...just might..start improving.   My heart goes out to everyone who has the deficiency.  It is so overlooked!!  How can this be !! It is our way of fighting everything including cancer and many doctors aren't getting the urgency of correcting this problem !!!!  Wow !!

Anyway, my thoughts are with everyone on this, and hopefully I will improve and everyone else will!  I can only hope and pray that it is not too late to correct some of the problems and damage !!

No need fir calcium or magnesium... simply adjust your diet accordingly to incorporate more probiotic yogurts, fresh/cottage cheese, and fill it in with some almonds and pum[kin seeds... those will be enough.

Your calcium and magnesium levels will rise as you raise vitamin d levels

Vitamin K2 and MK-7 are the same.
MK-7 is simply a form of K2, and it is the best form of K2 one can get (others are mere derivatives and have to be converted in the body).

100 mcg (or more) daily would be the recommended dosage to take with 10 000 or 20 000 IU of Vitamin D3 (also daily).
But you can take a loading dose of D3 once per week (say 70 000 IU) and take K2 as MK-7 daily

Getting D3 over the counter seems to be your best bet, because it would seem a lot of the prescription is only for D2 (which should be avoided like a plague).

I would recommend 10 000 IU of D3 per day, or 70 000 IU once per week - and of course K2 as MK-7 (100mcg daily).

I think that K2 as MK-7 can be problematic to obtain from diet itself, but at the same time I don't think it should present too big of a problem.

I just wanted to make sure I'm getting K2 as MK-7 for myself with D3.

Just clarifying.  I had gotten D3 off Amazon while waiting for my prescription from the doctor. After a week of some kind of problem with getting the prescription I picked it up today and found out it is for D2  !   So am contacting my VA doctor to ask him to send me D3 (since I am a service connected veteran).  So hopefully he will.  If not I will have to just take the over the counter D3.  The other doctor, nor his nurse has responded to me inquiry.  We just moved to a new city and this doctor is in my old city so guessing it is serious time to start getting a new doctor.

I hope you were given Vitamin D3 and not D2.
There were little to no health benefits observed from D2 (synthetic form), compared to D3.

Also... make sure to modulate your diet with hard and soft cheese which are rich in Vitamin K2.
