Am wondering what kind of doctor would recommend, and then sell, his own products???
This sounds much like a dangerous conflict of interest- or a flagrant attachment to his supplier, and not to his patients.
I am curious what supplements your urologist suggested in addition to a Multi-Vitamin. I have been taking Rainbow Light Complete Pre-Natals for almost a year now. I am amazed the difference between a good vitamin v/s one with lots of fillers. And besides for the occasional additional vitamin c and echinacea that I take for cold or flu that is pretty much all I take.
My former Urologist tried to sell me supplements as you note, too. My current Urologist concurred they are a waste of money and also, perhaps, a conflict of interest. However, he did note the supplements that might be helpful for me and to buy them on my own. (sigh)

I agree with doing research on finding the best supplement. I do my research and then check into pricing online. My local health store hikes up the prices when I can get it online for less.
If they're for a specific problem, it improves. If it's prophylactic, you'll never know. As for buying supplements from a doctor, why spend the extra money? Go to a good health food store, buy a good book on supplements, do your research, and choose your own.
