Are You Accountable? Time for a Roll Call

OK .. last week we had our first live chat and absolutely had a blast!  Information, comments, humor and wisdom were flying as fast as members could type and click "post".

A by-product of that chat was a desire to hold ourselves accountable for exercise.  Those of you who participated know who you are ... ;)   Those of you who weren't able to, this still affects you too.

If we want to realize our dreams and our weight loss goals ... and bring our bodies to a state of health ... we simply must exercise.  This can be fun, exciting and an adventure in trying old and new ways to move.  We can share this with each other by posts and via our exercise trackers.  So ...

Are you in?  Are you going to hold you accountable?  Shout out in the poll and in a comment below.  We'll be working to remind you and keep you motivated towards this goal.  It's a new week, a new day ... let's meet it with open arms and the effort required to make changes!

Wish I could get my workouts done in the morning.  I have to be at work by 6:00 am, which means I get out of bed no later than 3:45 in order to do the things I absolutely have to do to get ready and must leave the house by 5:00.  By the time the work day is done, I'm tired and it's way too easy to forgo the workout, in favor of cooking supper, doing laundry, etc and of course I have to get to bed by around 7:30 in order to get enough rest to get up and do it all over again.

I would think that a good workout first thing in the morning would be energizing and help to keep you going throughout the day.  Don't forget to eat a good healthy breakfast in order to keep going all day.  Good luck and we look forward to a report on the workout.

Welcome Cheyenne_08.  Of course, you are welcome here.  It's hard to keep working at staying active when you don't have support.  My hubby is not the least fitness oriented either and it gets really hard sometimes; I generally try to do my workouts when he isn't home as he tends to make unwelcome comments about the moves, etc.

For those of you with dogs - they are great exercise.  We have 2 and though I had a major case of "the lazy's" today, I forced myself to take the younger of the 2 (one is 19 yrs old, so can't go too far) out for about a 45 min walk today.  She's over weight and so am I.  The saying: If your dog is overweight, you don't get enough exercise!!  I also managed 30 minutes of aerobics this morning, so that's a total of 1.25 hr - not too shabby.

is it too late to jump on this band wagon??? I am Cheyenne, and I am getting married next halloween and want to drop some weight before the wedding! A new Anytime Fitness center just opened and I want to join! However, I generally lose motivation because my fiance is not a fitness person at all, and doesn't help me lol So, can I get some inspiration and motiviation here???

The most important thing is that you are all staying tuned in and sharing.  There are many stressors and life responsibilities than can keep us from exercise ...

The amazing thing about each of you is your fortitude and perseverence.

wonko ~ you still managed to fit some exercise in; that shows your commitment and the care you have learned to place on your health .. that mindset will take you far.

MissLizzy ~ even with the added stress, you have found time to participate and share with the team your plan of action and set your goal to increase your "be good to you" time.

TrudieC and twehner5 ~ first, hope you are feeling better.  These will pass and you'll be back in the swing soon.

One thing I try to remember .. and implement in my mind .. is that exercise relieves stress and helps us be able to cope better.  Sometimes, it is that realization alone that gets me up and going.

Hope you all have a productive and terrific Thursday .. looking forward to talking soon .. in live time ... it was so enjoyable!

Hi! Sorry I dropped off the planet. Thanks, Ranaesheart, for the link. I have had a terrible migraine that I can't seem to shake. Woke up with it again today. But, I will plan on a  3-mile walk. Once I prod myself into exercise, I feel better. Tomorrow, I play on strength training. Let's see........

I'm a little behind.  I did work out for about 10 minutes yesterday but am dealing with some stressful issues and not feeling very well.  I hope to be back to it by Friday.

I will have to start my tracker and accountability next week, I am a nanny and the boys have this week off from school.  In addition, there are some severe behavioral things happening with one of them, unsafe actions, etc....so my head is a bit cloudy!  I started going to the gym last week and worked out 3 days, with 40-50 minutes of heavy cardio a day and 40 minutes of stretching and core strength training.  My goal for next week will be to go 4 days!

It's not much, but I did fit in some stretching and low impact aerobics this morning.  I'm really trying to get back in full swing of both AM and PM exercise.

I have company coming this weekend, so my PM "workout" may be some serious chores...

Have a good one!

Think maybe I should get me a dog to take me for a walk.  I keep hearing, from many, that their pet is really quite motivational in their walks.

You are not only determined, but wise.  Spreading the exercise out throughout the day is the best of both worlds!  Taking care of your heart and your knees!  10 minutes is the magic number ... as long as your activity is in 10 minute amounts .. or more .. it is beneficial.

Please .. bet .. resist the urge to lower your calorie content.  It is truly not healthy to go below 1100 calories.  Try doing the opposite .. raise your normal calorie intake by 200-300 calories for a day .. then you can return to your normal intake.  See if that doesn't give you the boost you need.

You made a great effort with the busy day and the election .. keep smiling and give yourself a huge pat on the back.

I have a dog that takes me for my walk everyday. My excecise is spread out through out the day. I walk in the morning around 30 to 45 min. depending on how I feel. Then after lunch I'm on my stepper for about 20 min. and I use leg magic for around 10.  Then I take another walk in the evening. I space mine out because I have a knee injury from a fall I had. I just slow down the pace a bit. I am thinking about lowering my calorie intake again. Trying not to go below 1100 because I don't want to become sick. Today I am more concerned about the election. Will get my act together tomorrow.

I use my Wii Fit on a laminate floor, but my balance board came with "feet extensions" to raise it up for use on carpet.  But then I'm like mine to read 30 lbs less also, so maybe I should start using it on carpet - without the "feet" - but then that wouldn't be fair, so I'll just keep plugging at it.  After you get more exercises unlocked and get good at them, you can set it to do more reps, etc to make it more difficult because if you let your body get too comfortable with the routine, it doesn't work your muscles like it should.  Also, it's a good idea to vary the order in which you do the routine and may exercise a different way on a couple of days/week just to keep your muscles off guard and to prevent getting bored with the whole thing.  And don't forget to do the body tests - that's fun and tells a lot about how you are doing.  Have fun with it.

Ranaeheart - sorry about your flu bug - hope you feel much better tomorrow.

I did get my walking done today, but not my work out.  Will get back on track tomorrow.

Wishing everyone a good evening.

OK .. sold .. and thanks to both of you for the Wii review.  It is now officially on my wish list.  My exercise plans for today are being tabled until tomorrow because I have apparently caught the flu bug .. up since 4:30 and sick around 6:45.  Am attempting some soup in a few minutes so I can take medicine for the massive headache I now have.  shucks ..

As you're standing in line for the polls, try marching in place .. it is still exercise and could be quite a conversation starter!  Maybe find some new friends to go walking with our to join us here.

Did you guys happen to see the post in the Social Community about voting and cake?  It's really pretty funny ... maybe we can get a few others to join us after they eat their fill of cake.  http://www.medhelp.org/posts/show/675428

May have to work on getting those hubby's to join you.  Have you heard of the barter system???  ;)

Hope you all have a lovely productive day and work to fit that exercise in.  Take care .. and I'll be back with you, hopefully tomorrow .. just as soon as this flu bug flies the coop.

(((Energizing HUGGSS))) ...

I'll have to give Wii Fit another shot!

At first, it really does seem to baby you, and that is why I got bored.  But it sounds like I may just need to invest the time to unlock the good stuff.  I think there are other Wii fitness games coming out or in the works.  I'll keep a lookout.

Also, I think my carpet confused the balance board, because it said I weigh about 30 lbs less than I actually do--but perhaps I shouldn't complain about THAT!

I totally suggest ppl put it on their wish list--I've had my Wii for years and love it!

I use the Wii Fit daily (most days) and I love it.  You can personalize it in several ways and it will keep track of your weight, BMI, type and amount of exercise, etc.  It also gives you a "Wii Fit age", which may or may not be close to your calendar age.  For instance, my Wii Fit age runs between 36-42 yrs and my actual age is 59 yrs; therefore, my body does as well as someone approx 40 yrs old, so in spite of the fact that I'm carrying approx 30 lbs more than I should, my body's in fair shape.  Some days, when my joints are really stiff (thyroid related??), my Wii Fit age is much closer to my actual age.  It starts out with "easy" exercises, which include balance games, strength training, yoga, and aerobics and gives you points as you work out.  When you achieve enough points in each category, it opens up new, more difficult exercises, etc.   I recommend it for anyone because you need to do only what you feel comfortable doing (your baby steps) and doesn't mind anyone being a "turtle", so on days when I don't feel "top notch" I can stick with yoga or lower impact, easier things.  It's great for me because I have a limited of "safe" area to walk in my neighborhood so it gets boring quickly; therefore, I depend on getting in my walking while I'm at work and can walk on various school campuses, then do my Wii Fit workout after work.  Good for colder climates where outside activities may be limited.  By all means, add it to your "wish list"; however, keep in mind, it can get rather spendy if you don't already have the Wii console, etc.

Your hubby must be easier to force into a walk than mine is!!  He wouldn't dream of it - after all "why walk if you don't have it?".  I've already done quite a bit of walking today & hope to get in the workout after work, but also have to go vote, so we'll see if there's time for both!!

Love to see the enthusiasm here.  Helps keep me motivated.  Thanks

I love the Wii Fit - you can set it up with your own trainer, etc and it lets you know whether or not you are doing the exercises correctly or not.  The walking not only "fits" in to my job - but is required as I often have to "hoof" it back and forth across school campuses, some of which are a mile or more across, locating and solving various problems.  I don't think my problem is lack of exercise - I must be eating wrong, so that's the next thing to work on.
Have a great day.

Well done everyone!  100% Commitment, participation and accountability?  What's on tap for today?

My time is at a premium today with some OT at work; trying to figure out where to grab the time.  Am opting for a 20 minute walk before lunch and while smaller than I'd hoped, it is a realistic goal for today and is testing my flexibility and commitment.

Your efforts are most inspiring and I'm anxious to see what you'll be doing today?  Would also like to know what you think of Wii fit .. should I put this on my "wish" list???
