It is very difficult for me to lose weight. Why?

I am 169 pounds. I am 5,9 and I'm a 15 year old male. However, any attempt of very prolonged dieting and consistent excerise has left me discouraged time and time again because I find little to no results. Why

My metabolism is very slow. And I do not have a good diet anymore. I eat a lot of fruit but also anything I eat including junk food and do tend to over eat a lot. However I am a fairly active person as I get a lot of steps in a day I play sports and exercise and such but I still look like I'm a couch potato which I kind of am but I see people who play video games way longer than I do but still stay super skinny and muscular and it really discourages me

How do you know your metabolism is slow?  Are you just using the term colloquially?  If you are active, then you're not a couch potato.  I also wonder why a 15 year old, if you really are 15, is counting steps.  It sounds like you're insecure and comparing yourself to others, and that you say you overeat buy most 15 year olds are hungry all the time.  I'd say you need to chill more than anything else, and if you know you're eating poorly stop doing it.  But a question -- what do your folks look like?  What's the shape of people in your family?  And if you want muscle, you have to do things that produce it, but very few 15 year olds are well muscled.

You're still growing so you're more likely to gain weight than lose it, just remember that the number on the scale isn't everything. Just try to eat healthy and don't worry if you don't lose weight. You'll be gaining height and growing not becoming overweight.

First off, that's not all that much overweight.  If you were highly muscled, which at 15 you probably aren't, it wouldn't be overweight at all.  You're also going to change -- don't know what your future holds, but you could end up a lot taller.  Do you eat too much?  Are you active when you're not "exercising?"  And dieting generally doesn't work for very long -- there's usually a short-term gain and then your metabolism returns to its normal state -- you stabilize.  Changing the way you eat on a permanent and healthy basis leads to slow weight loss that stays off.  But you're, again, very young, and most people at your age have pretty fast metabolism, especially males, as your hormones are kicking into high gear.  So it's likely the way you eat and what you eat.  Can you describe your diet so people on her can comment?  But know that what you look like at 15 might be a lot different than what you'll look like at even 16.
