Typically, when I'm not doing anything and I get a craving for something, it's because I'm bored. If I get up and do something for 10-15 minutes - like fold clothes, sweep the floor, clean the bathroom, dust, do some exercises, journal, take a shower, drink a glass of water - anything to take my mind off the craving, it will go away, unless I'm truly hungry.
If the craving doesn't go away and I'm craving something sweet, instead of eating candy or cookies, I'll eat an apple or make a small fruit smoothie, using a little coconut milk and frozen fruit chunks, with fresh ginger - feels like I'm eating spicy soft serve ice cream. If I'm craving chips, a cracker might suffice, but I've read that if we crave salt, it's because we're thirsty (??). If I'm feeling really strong, I'll go ahead and have just a couple of chips to calm the crave, but I have to make sure I stop at a couple and not eat the whole bag... Always depriving ourselves often ends up derailing the best of diets.
If it's chocolate you crave, make sure you have dark chocolate on hand, rather than milk chocolate. Dark chocolate (88% cacao) is actually good for you, whereas milk chocolate is not.
It's because you're not eating enough through out the day. You exercise an absolute ton. If that gym time is an hour of high intensity exercise, you shouldn't be dipping below 2K calories a day to lose weight.
I know the feeling. Just remember that your cravings are stemming from something else. Dehydration causes food cravings. Deprivation of protein after workouts causes food cravibgs. If you work out, as a woman you should try for 50g of potential per day. Also, the wedding nerves could definitely be causing cravings. (Been there!) So try to relax and enjoy this exciting time. I'm sure you will be beautiful on your wedding day. Good luck & Congrats
Hello
I also suffer crazy evening food cravings. I noticed they are intense when I fight sleep or am very tired.
I also worked very hard to finish a BSN degree. The daily stress weakened me. I often used eatting for comfort and stress management. Good luck on your degree and marriage. Be gentle. Your stress level is in the red zone!
