Serious this Time

So...New to the Community, but not new to yo-yo dieting...I will say that this time is different...though.  Maybe it's turning 30...Maybe it's this "healthier living" focus I've started...(I quit smoking a month ago) but I'm going to do it this time.

So, I'm counting calories...my average (before) was probably around 2300-2500 calories a day...which explains why I'm 30 years old, 5'3, and 203 lbs.  I will say that I have a Wii Fit now and along with MedHelp's trackers...I am taking a very conscious look at my calorie intake and exercize habits now.

So, does anyone have any tips that can help...I'm counting my calories...I'm excercizing on the Wii a minimum of 30 minutes a day...I try to get an hour a day in, at least 3 days of the week.  I drink lots of water (average 2-3 liters a day)...Anything that you have found or are finding helpful in you weight-loss goals.  Thanks.

If you haven't started a food diary yet, I'd strongly advise you doing so.  That can help you keep track of what you are really eating and when you have to write down everything you eat, it helps keep you  more accountable.

Also make sure you eat plenty of protein (lean meats, low/no fat dairy, etc), as protein helps fill you up and keep you feeling full longer.  Always make sure you eat breakfast -- yep, mother was right when she said "breakfast is the most important meal of the day".

It works differently for everyone, but you can try eating several small meals each day, like every 3 hours or so to help keep you from getting hungry.  I tried that for quite a while and it didn't work for me because I was always focused on how long until the next meal.  For me, it works better to have breakfast (I get up at 3:30 am, so am eating breakfast around 4:00 am), then a good snack around 8:00 or 8:30 am -- maybe some peanuts and an apple or something equivalent, then a very good lunch at around 11:30.........after that, I'm not very hungry the rest of the day, so I get by with a very light dinner - maybe just a salad or a sandwich or even some popcorn.  So my largest meals are breakfast and lunch -- then I have the rest of the day to work it off..................lol

I, too, have a Wii Fit and I love it.........I don't get to it EVERY day, but I'm trying for most days.  Be sure you do all of the different types of exercises -- yoga, strength, aerobic, etc.  Your body needs them all; AND make sure you change around the routine regularly  -- if you do exactly the same thing every day, your body will get used to it and it will no longer be a challenge.............

These should be enough to help you get started.......and please do keep posting so we know how you are doing.............

By the way ---- welcome
