I adore peanut butter too! I try not to have it more than once a week. Sometimes I fail miserably. Lol.
Maybe you can look into almond butter? It usually has less saturated fat than peanut butter. Although it's a little more expensive.
Thanks, Ducky and Barb. I had thought the almonds would be better than any other nuts...naturally, since I like pecans and walnuts better, but my real downfall is peanut butter....guess i better get it out of house and keep it out!
I am getting the fruits and veggies, I'll add a boiled egg as a snack. I found it really impossible to cut my portion of PB so I will go with the almonds instead.
Peanut butter and nuts are an excellent source of good fats, plus vitamins/minerals.... Try cutting your portions.
Are you getting plenty of fiber filled veggies and low fat proteins?
Are your snacks giving you too many fat and calories before making you satisfied? If you need more fats than you're getting during the day, maybe just have raw almonds. They're much lower in calories than other nuts. Just remember to weigh them. I personally go for a serve of fruit or sometimes yogurt. But if you need the protein -maybe a boiled egg or something like hummus with veggies or black beans by themselves might be a good idea.
Joined ww but gained 1 lb this week :( I hope, with support I can jump on the bandwagon. Alternative to peanut butter / nuts....as a healthy snack? Anyone?

So I assumed I gained back the 5lbs I lost on my week one. I jumped on the scale and got happy to know I did great. I lost 3 pounds this week. :D

Thank you for this link. Hopeful I posted correctly. :)
Still 211.7 lbs for me... I'm having a hard time with unsupportive family that makes dinner once a week... They always choose something that ruins all my hard work during the week.
Thanks for the welcome! I think I must have messed up the "To" line when I gave that advice. I apologize for that... Not sure what I did wrong- but at least you got the post.
I am looking forward to getting to know everyone here!

Welcome Tammy!
Thanks for that. I'm very blessed to have a supportive husband but I will definitely be taking it slow. I plan on making easy to digest broth and soups for my first week home. I roomed with a friend back in 2007 who still had a bile secretion problem after having her gallbladder out, so I got to see first hand how bad it can still be and plan to take it slow. Still, it would be better than this day to day though. :/
Hi Barb,
I am new to this forum, but I plan to stick around! I am just restarting my weight loss plans as of yesterday. My weight is: 260.0 today... I posted an introduction.
I had my gallbladder removed in February 2010. Recovery wasn't much fun, so I hope you have plenty of support. You may find that you don't digest fats as well as you might like though. I recommend finding some good enzymes.
Best wishes,
Tammy
Kind of duplicating posts- but I'm doing alright. My first week on was amazing results- 1 kilo down (2.2lbs). But, I've been struggling with the exercise and energy so I only lost 1/2 a lb all last week. A loss is still a loss but it kind of bummed me out until I talked with the dietician today.
I walked into her office with my handful of family history, lab tests, and food intake and weight loss reports. I still saw that pity in her eyes as she realized all the crap I bring to the table, but for the most part she was impressed. She basically said I'm doing everything I should be and can be (for now). And that although a normal person in my shoes could stand to have more fats and protein in ratio to carbs, it would hurt my gallbladder too much to consider it. After months of not knowing if what I'm doing is right, healthy or even safe... it was really nice to hear that. Honestly, I really needed to hear it.
I feel much more confident and secure in what I'm doing. I had all my questions answered and I feel a little more armed for the future when I finally get this stupid organ out of me. And as Bob as my witness (For all you Rugrat fans :D ) I'm going to do a limbo under 190 by the end of February!
