cocoberri - sorry to hear about the gain. Eating out can be a real challenge, but I managed to eat out, virtually, every meal for 2 weeks and not gain. You have to be very careful about the choices when eating out, because of the amount of extra salt and fat in everything.
moonpiebaby -- congratulations on the loss. Keep up the good work.
nicolemk -- wow, congratulations on the pregnancy. You're right that too much weight can make conception much more difficult, so if you've lost some that could certainly have contributed. Best of luck for the pregnancy and feel free to stick around and keep us posted on how things are going.
chapina -- welcome to the community. Sometimes it does help if we are checking in with others, regarding our weight loss issues. We're here to help however we can. Did you arrive at the 1400 calories/day by calculating BMR status or did you just pick that number? Good luck.
Hi, I am new to this group hopefully this will help me with my goals since I would have to be checking in :]
I just started yesterday with my new plan and goal, I will try to maintain a 1400 calories/day diet, and exercise. I just started yesterday, by November I would like to have lost 30 lbs but main goal eight is to lose 80-90 lbs in total so hopefully a year from now I will be 80 lbs lighter :]
Well it looks like I'm late posting again, but my wieght loss goals are changing because last week we found out that after a year and a half of trying we are finally expecting baby #3! I really think working to loose a bit of weight and eat healthier has helped! My goal is to eat healthy and maintain my weight during this pregnancy with little gain because I'm already overweight.
Had a good week. Stayed active and stuck to my eating plan. I lost all my vacation weight and then some! For a total of 6lbs! Now, if I can just keep it up. One day at a time. :D
I've pretty much been on a downward spiral, I've been eating out a lot and drinking wine and I'm sad to say I gained 7lbs. My weight is 153
Wow - congratulations on your seven pounds. Do you mind telling us what type of program you're on? Yes, thyroid medication plays a big role in metabolism. I've been on my thyroid med for over 5 years and while that helped stop the gain, it hasn't done much to help with loss, because of other issues.
I've recently been diagnosed with insulin resistance/pre-diabetes and metabolic syndrome, which, added to the thyroid condition make losing even harder. Insulin is often called the "fat storage hormone".
I've had to switch to a low glycemic diet - one which does not cause blood sugar levels to spike - in order to keep insulin levels lower. I also have to be very careful about the salt I eat, as very little can make my hands/feet puff up like balloons.
Best of luck on your journey.
Two weeks ago I began a program in earnest and have lost seven pounds. For me, it is a combination of staying the course, making good food choices, moving a little more. Additionally, I have been on a thyroid medicine for a few months now which I think has played a significant role in how my body functions.
