Sunday Weigh-In June 9, 2019

Good morning... Well, as you can see, I'm running really late today - going from one extreme to the other these days, I guess.  I spent most of the night  not feeling well, so I didn't get a lot of sleep.  By the time it was time to get up, I was feeling better but really tired, so I laid down for a while and went back to sleep, which led to a really deep sleep that led to unpleasant dreams... I should have known better than to do that, but I was SO tired from being up most of the night.

I'm feeling better now, but quite groggy and feel like I could really use a nap, but that's not unusual at this time of day.  I did go out to my workshop for a while.  I'm working on a project for a contest for the woodworking group we belong to.  The contest is on Tuesday and I'm hoping to get my project done so I can enter it.  I have it all put together and am in the process of putting the stain/finish on it.  It started raining and I had to close the doors of my shop so it wouldn't rain in - sawdust and rain don't mix very well - so it got extremely hot in there.  I'm hoping the rain stops later so I can go back out and finish the stain so I can sand and put the first clear coat on in the morning and the second one in the afternoon.

I think the health issues in my family have finally calmed down for now, so hopefully, everyone can take time to get well before anything further happens.  I had a 24-hr Holter monitor to check my own heart earlier this week and will go back on the 14th to get the results of that.  For the past several years I've had a problem with my heart rate being too low.  I tend to believe that's contributing to my fatigue/tiredness all the time.  I believe that's due to my thyroid function/lack of but doctors don't agree with me, so there's not a lot I can do do about it if they won't increase my medication dosage although my symptoms tend to decrease when I increase my dosage on my own.

Anyway, weight-wise, I'm still right at 2 lbs over what I was when we went up north for my MIL's funeral, but I'm still swelling a lot and I'm not getting the exercise I need to be getting.  Even though I'm spending a lot of time working in my shop, most of it is standing still, working with my hands or just slight movement around the shop, which isn't very large.  I know it's all exercise, it's not like getting out and walking a mile or something like I was used to doing every day over the winter.  It's terribly hot here, which isn't real conducive to doing a lot outside, like walking, gardening, etc.  Of course, it didn't help that yesterday was my birthday, so on Friday, my husband took me out to a Brazilian restaurant, at which you can eat all you want, plus they provided free dessert because it was my birthday, then yesterday my best friend took me out to breakfast, then my daughter and her significant other came last night and we had cupcakes and other goodies.  Maybe I should be thankful that 2 lbs is all I'm over from my pre-funeral weight...

Anyway, that's my story.  What's yours?  I hope you met whatever goals you set over the week.

~~Wishing everyone a wonderful, successful week~~

Hi, and happy birthday to you, Barb!

Day before yesterday we had a guest for dinner and ate a huge meal AND dessert, and then I had two very big meals yesterday (I usually eat only light meals), and now I'm up as well, it's 1.8 lbs. over last week, eerk!

I'm going to weigh a little later today and see if I happened to be retaining a lot of water (the food had lots of salt), but I'm also going to take my eating more seriously this week. I don't want the number to creep back up bit by bit, since I have been pleased to keep that unwanted 5 lbs. off this past year.

We close on our new house next week. I've been looking at the furnishings in our present house with an eye to what simply won't match. The color scheme in the new house is cool -- floors in driftwood tones and cabinets in charcoal grey, walls pale grey -- and we're going to use charcoal, wheat, and dark olive green in the living / kitchen area. Not only is one of our sofas 38 years old (though still sound) but its warm paper-sack tan color would make all the understated grey-beige look like dead putty, and the grey-beige palette will make it obvious the sofa hasn't been reupholstered since 1995. I have to decide whether to upholster the old sofa yet again, or to send it to the farm where the floors are oak and the walls are pale yellow, or just to send it to the Goodwill. What the sofa really needs is a slipcover in white cotton or designer pillow-ticking, as seen in adorable summery spreads in Pottery Barn catalogues. But sometimes you just don't want more projects.

One of our farm cats has oral cancer, and can't be treated (prognosis for radiation or chemo is poor). So he's now living in the laundry room of our small house. He's the happiest cancer patient I've ever seen, though bothered by the tumor in his mouth (it's more like a cavity than something sticking out, so there is no operating to remove it). He isn't weak or needing constant rest or even much attention (we have him on antibiotics and a medication that reduces inflammation). We're sad that he has cancer, and it's really distressing to watch him gag to try to make his mouth feel more normal. But you don't euthanize a cat just because his medical problem makes *you* feel bad. He's still strong and very cheerful, and when we've let him out to walk around the garden, he always manages to find his way back. lol  I just hope we don't take what used to be a clean, sweet-smelling laundry room and imbue it with stale-catbox smell, right before putting the house up for sale. (- Small problem in the scheme of things. -)

One week of school left. Definitely looking forward to the summer.

Stay cool!

I could have sworn I commented on this thread earlier in the week - must be losing my mind!!

Thank you for the birthday wishes.  I appreciate it.

It sounds like you had some really good meals over the weekend as well.  Have you had a chance to weigh again and see how you've come out?  I weighed again, but I wish I hadn't... lol  I ended up gaining another pound but I haven't been exercising at all.  I've been working in my shop every day on a project and by the end of the day I was tired and didn't feel like getting out and walking for more exercise.  I can really feel it in my legs, too.

Anyway, I've finished the shop project I was working on - it was for a contest for our woodworking group.  I didn't win anything, but my entry raised the winner's pot so I guess that's a good thing...  :-)  Now that I'm done with that project, I have to get back into some sort of exercise routine and back onto a good/better eating plan.
I think it wasn't salt or water retention. I seem to be at my usual now, but not lower, and that is after eating lightly for the last few days.
