It doesn't matter if your cholesterol level was fine or not, if you had a burger just two hours prior to your blood work, the results are not valid, since as I noted above, both cholesterol and triglyceride testing is supposed to be fasting.
I had the.burger ill say 2hrs before I had my blood work done. My cholesterol was 161 which was fine.
Have either of you been tested for hypothyroidism? High cholesterol is a signature symptom of hypothyroidism. The tests you need are TSH, Free T3 and Free T4, even though your doctor might tell you, you don't need them all... s/he will be wrong, because without them, you risk misdiagnosis.
High triglycerides are an indication that you may have metabolic syndrome.
scoob0255 -- how long before the blood test was the burger? Cholesterol and triglyceride testing is supposed to be fasting blood work, meaning that you shouldn't eat anything (not even coffee) within 8 hours of the test. If you weren't fasting when you had the blood work, you should ask your doctor to repeat it.
My Triglycerides were also very high. I have been on Cholesterol lowering medicine for years, but recently my Triglycerides went up significantly. My doctor suggested taking Omega 3 Fish Oil tablets (1000 mg 2 times per day). In 4 weeks my Triglyceride level went from 254 to 165. Try the ones that guarantee no Fish taste. This works.
