hypothalamus gland and weight loss

There is a guy on tv claiming a "cure " for weight loss, claiming that there is a substance that can reset your hypothalamus gland. I think that this is a load of garbage, based on very vague information, and this guy is trying to sell books! Have you any information about what the hypothalamus gland actually does? Thanks!!

I did HCG.  More than half of my weight loss was lean mass.  That is bad weight loss, no different than starving yourself.  Its a crock.

I loose 1lb per day and don't sacrifice lean mas with simple fat-fasting.  1000 calories per day 90% coming from fat.

I have been living the "Weight Loss Protocol" for the past 1 1/2 years and I am living proof that it works.  I was a skeptic as everyone is when they see the infomercial.  I wasn't even that fat according to friends and family, but I was overweight.  I weighed 183 lbs. when I decided to give the book a try.

After receiving the book and reading the first 3-4 chapters, I realized I didn't need the HCG shots.  In fact, I only decided to only try going organic.  Due to the cost of going organic, I would buy a few organic foods every week until I was as organic as I could be.

In my first month I lost about 10 lbs.  The hardest part was quitting the coffee.  I had a horrible headache for the first 2 days and I had no idea it was the coffee.  I thought it was due to the food.  I only found out weeks later that I was addicted to coffee and that was the reason for the headaches.  Anyway, my breakfast would consist of organic brown eggs (Costco), Niman's uncured bacon (Trader Joe's) toasted organic wheat bread (Trader Joe's), organic butter (Trader Joe's), organic french roast coffee (Trader Joe's), organic cane sugar (Trader Joe's), organic half and half (Trader Joe's).  I would sometimes scramble my eggs with organic onions and organic cheese for a change of pace along with a glass of organic OJ, but I almost always just fried my eggs in organic butter and season with sea salt and freshly ground pepper.  I would also add an organic banana if I was still hungry, but that was rare.

For lunch, I ate a salad which was almost completely organic (grape tomatoes, hot house cucumbers ( from Trader Joe's), organic green onions, organic celery, and organic salad dressing ( all usually bought at Von's on sale).  I would either have a glass of fuji water or a glass of organic low fat milk (2% from Trader Joe's).  I would also eat an organic fuji apple (bought wherever they were on sale) religiously with every lunch.

I would vary my dinners with organic chicken (Trader Joe's or Costco), organic ground Angus beef or lean beef (Costco or Trader Joe's), salmon, swordfish, halibut (wherever on sale and not farmed), steamed organic vegetables (corn, beans, broccoli, asparagus, potatoes, etc wherever they were on sale), organic wheat bread, organic milk, or organic tea with organic raw cane sugar

The dishes made for dinner would be either an asian chicken salad, spaghetti with meat sauce, Angus patties with gravy (made from organic wheat flour and organic butter), fish would almost always be BBQ'd and seasoned with organic lemon, organic salt and pepper, and sometimes marinated in an organic soy sauce with the organic lemon juice and organic or local grown honey.  I would also have an organic fuji apple religiously after dinner.

Anyway, after eating these meals for two months I lost around 20 lbs.  I only stayed on this phase until I reached 155 lbs. (another 2 1/2 weeks) which was my goal and from there I was able to eat a few foods which were not organic.  I also forgot to mention that I pretty much never ate at a fast food restaurant during the entire 2 1/2 to 3 month period.  I still haven't eaten at a Carl's Jr. or McDonald's which I used to frequent 2-3 times a week.  I think I've come to realize that fast food is about as bad for your body as it gets and that is why I will rarely ever give it a thought.

For those of you who say it is too expensive, that is another excuse.  That was my initial response when I first started reading it and went shopping for the 1st time, but I finally sucked it up and said I'll buy what is on sale and what I need to have to get started.  It exploded from there.  I saw immediate results and all of my family and co-workers can attest to my weight loss and my conviction to sticking with it until I hit my goal.

In fact, I had to loan my book out to so many people after hitting my goal within 90 days.  Since then, every person has lost weight and most of them didn't need to lose more than 20-30 lbs.

My recommendation is for everyone to try the "Weight Loss Protocol".  You can't bad-mouth it if you haven't tried it.  You also don't need to be obese to try it.

Good luck,
kauaikid

I'm not too certain about injections and this cure, but you can lose 1 lb a day on the fruit diet and the master's cleanse.  It is not that unusual.  The trick is that if you go back to your old habits after the diet the weight comes back. The key is to change your way of thinking about food/alcohol/etc. while you are on the diet, and then perform accordingly as you come off of it.  That implies self-control, which many (most?) of us don't have sufficient quantities of.  Anything that varies your normal existence can SHOCK you out of a bad habit, but then your determination is the only factor that can provide a continued positive experience.

I just read that the herb CHASTEBERRY is often used to balance hormones. It acts on the pituitary gland to stimulate progresterone prouction.

I have been reading that progestrone will raise your hcg levels, but so does dairy prouducts and milk when the cow that is being milked is pregnant. Wild Yams contain a plant steroid called DIOSGENIN, however there is no evidence that the body can metabolize diosgenin into progesterone. Diosgenin can however be chemically converted into progesterone in the lab. Where can I find a place that has done the converting.

What is the supplement needed for over the counter for hypothalamus gland & weight loss. I read about it in Sylvia Brown book  The Temples on the Other Side . How in a year or two a all natural approach for weight loss would involve the hyothalamus gland.

I just finished my first month on the oral HCG called Releana. I lost 20 pounds.   The first 2 weeks were a little tough as I still got hungry.  The hunger significantly decreased in the third week and I even forgot to eat my fruit servings a few times.  I only had leg cramps once, but my Doctor reminded me that I need to drink 10 glasses of no-calorie fluids per day, and if I keep track and do this, I have no problems.  I feel good, no side effects, occasional will-power struggle, but I seem to be making it through ok.  I just started my second month.  Will let you know if I lose 20 more pounds.

Well I bought the book as well and honestly everything that Kevin talks about in the book that the FDA is putting in our food all makes sense. Think about it the Us is claiming that we should watch our calories and carbs, but yet here we are still getting fatter and fatter. But 30 years ago when our country was still relying on food the we grew in our own backyards and people weren't using cars but walking more. They stayed thinner and leaner. The FDA wants us to stay getting fatter and fatter only so they can make money off of us. We wouldn't be buying as much food or buying the new and latest crave on the diet pill or exercise equipment if we just eat all organincaly grown food like they did 30 or even 50 years ago. Our goverment is a load of bull when they say they "want to Help" with the epidmic. The goverment is getting there fair share of money that people use to buy pills and have surgies.

HCG stands for "Human Chorionic Gonadotropin".  It is a peptide hormone produced by the embryo after conception and later by the placenta.  It somehow keeps the progesterone level up... and that's why some people are now using it for weightloss (even though the FDA hasn't officially approved it for such things).  I think one thing, possibly, that holds the FDA back is the fact that HCG production is used as a "tumor marker" when testing for Cancer.  It's not proven yet if HCG can actually CAUSE cancer when injected into the body, nor has it been proven that it can't.
It's an interesting study.

See.... I think when Mr. Trudeau uses the word "Cure", that's where things get crazy.  I've always read in nursing school that  a doctor, health practitioner, or any other type of health - practice (such as multi-level distributors of vitamins, etc) can't ever say that their product or practice "Cures" anything, otherwise they face a very hefty fine (which Mr. Trudeau has faced and paid) and can lose their medical license (if they even have one).  Licensed, FDA approved drugs are the only things that can have that word "cure" attached to them... so I'm confused by all of it.

Losing a pound a day... that IS intense in and of itself. Wow! Is what you're doing doctor-supervised?  Honestly just wondering... that's like the amount they lose on The Biggest Loser, and they always have those monitors on their arms to record their blood pressure, heart and oxygen level.  Do you experience muscle cramps at night or anything with the HCG?  The lady across the street is on it and she's always cramping up and I didn't know if that's normal or not.  The article that I read never said anything about that...

im my opinion if you haven't tried it you shouldn't bash on it. i myself am on the diet and i was worried that it was a waste but i stuck to it and its working. no one knows about it case its not FDA approved but thats all. just cause they don't want it out there doesn't mean it doesn't work. i'm on week 2 and i have lost a pound a day. i haven't lifted a weight, or even thought of exersise the only thing is that the diet is intense but well worth it

After reading the following article on HCG, I pretty much decided to go the natural, FDA approved route:

My wife is on this diet and it absolutely works! She went through her first series of injections (about 40 days) and lost about 40 pounds. She is now on the 2nd round of injections and has lost another 20 pounds. AND IT STAYS OFF! She put it to the test over the holidays. Eating whatever she wanted. The weight did not move. You have to follow this protocol very closely. I believe it is the cure, put their are too many skeptics who will never put it to the test. Too bad, cause it really does work.

I recently started my hcg shots, I didn't buy the book "The Cure",  I simply went to Intergrative Medical in NJ.  In Nov 2007 started with a series of colonics, chelations therapy and then started my shots 2 months later.  So far on my 3rd day of the injections, I'm down 4 pounds.  Hell that shocked me,  the actual 500 cal diets starts today.  I'm a little hungry, trying not to think about it.  Drinking plenty of herbal tea for breakfast, so far so good.  I did experience a headache on the first day of shots.  Ok now.  Anyone else on the Hcg shots, comment back.

Here is what I found about Mark Trudeau on Wikipedia:   Kevin Mark Trudeau (born February 6, 1963) is an American author, pocket billiards promoter (founder of the International Pool Tour), convicted felon, salesman, and alternative medicine advocate.[1] He is known for a number of television infomercials selling his products, and for several books, including Natural Cures "They" Don't Want You to Know About. Trudeau has had numerous interactions with the U.S. judicial system, including multiple fines and a larceny conviction.[2] The Federal Trade Commission currently restricts his ability to promote and sell any product or service. However, he is permitted to promote books and other publications due to free-speech protection under the First Amendment as long as they are not used to promote or sell products or services.[3][4]

If you want the book, take a look at ebay for cheap prices.  I would avoid ordering from Kevin's promo's as one will receive many intriguing offers like joining a "secret" society he endorces; etc.although not "selling" it himself.  And if you order from the TV promo, expect to have to listen to numerous other offers before getting to order the book.  While I am interested in exactly what he is
claiming the cure to be...I can't believe it is SIMPLE as he claims on the promos.

Just do a little research on Kevin Trudeau and you will find that he will promot anything if he thinks it will make him some money.  He thinks he is an expert on everythig but really knows nothing.  If you want to lose weight just cut your portions and eat the right foods and exercise.  You must be willing to make a life style change.

I am reading Kevin's book and alot of what he say make sense to a point. I am going to take it my Dr and see what she has to say about it.  But it is interesting some of the things he is saying. I know some of what he tells is mostly common sense, but I am curious to have it checked out myself before I make any judgement.
