Over the counter diet pills are a waste of money.  Phentermine is meant to be a booster to weight loss; however, I have read many stories that some are on it for many years. I have also read that it is recommended to take a break from this regimen after at least 3months.  I believe every case is different.  The goal is to be able to learn self discipline so the medication is not needed long term.  Congrats on the loss and I hope you continue to have success

Over the counter isn't good any medication prescribed by prescription and is it appetite suppressant will help one lose weight the over the counters are ineffective and is why there over the counter and don't require a license physician or nurse practitioner to write them they're over the counter there no good

I weighed 283 and had just put on 30 pounds in October 2014. I was hypertensive and pre-diabetic. I was concerned about my health, largely sedentary, working 2 full time jobs and a part time job and going to graduate school. In three months I lost 10 lbs. I wasn't looking to lose weight, just maintain. I had persistent heartburn which was not relieved by multiple acid reflux medications. My doctor thought that this could be due to an ulcer and scheduled an upper and lower gi. I had these procedures on new years eve. My daughter was induced with my first grandchild on January 5. She was in labor when I received a call from my doctor that I had evidence of Celiac disease and we needed bloodwork to confirm. The diagnosis was confirmed on January 9. I had a diet high in simple carbs and lots of fast food. I rarely cooked, a lot of drive thru meals. My husband is disabled and has applied for disability thus the need for three jobs. However after this diagnosis, I resigned the part time job because I was barely sleeping 4 hours a night because of study and preparation for the third job. I was prescribed xanax and ambien. When I tell you the detox from carbs and wheat/gluten was a nightmare I was not exaggerating. My symptoms were similar to any drug addict. Sweats, chills, headache, body aches, nausea, stomach cramping and the appropriate result of those cramps. It has been three and a half months since my diagnosis of Celiac Disease. I am down 52 lbs. I can honestly say the phentermine was God sent. I never would have been able to quit carbs and wheat/gluten without it. I didn't crave anything. I truly did not want to eat. My husband had to make me eat a few bites several times a day. He would call me to remind me, pack food for me, what ever it took to ensure I would eat. I am two dress sizes down. I would like to lose another 75lbs. I am starting to get my appetite back however I think this is more due to the introduction of simple carbs in the form of substitute gluten free foods which I am getting ready to remove from my diet and stick with single ingredient natural foods, (if it has a Mama or comes from the ground I can eat it -- with the exception of gluten). I can honestly say it has been a wonder drug for me. I no longer take meds for hypertension. I am no longer prediabetic. I will be a graduate of my masters program in May and my husband has a state representative working on his disability case. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. I am praying it is not the headlight of an oncoming train. Since diagnosis with Celiac, I have also been told I have Asthma leaving me wondering where that came from. Celiac being an autoimmune disease and finding out that I have it genetically is a little concerning. I am more concerned about comorbidities with the Celiac than the effects of phentermine. Just being honest.

Hi Bev,
I am looking at a post from you from 2007 and have just tried to go to the site you suggest but only a privacy policy comes up.  Are you still getting your tablets from them?

phertermine is the best, i have lost a total of 45lbs in six months, by taking the pills, exercising 4times a week for an hour, and cutting down on meals, i eat almost the same things, just less bread and o sodas, added more fruit, and yogurt, and cheese to my diet, less meat, i feel great i am 47 and the weight has taken off 10 yrs. I take 1/2 in the morning and 1/2 in the evening they seem more effective that way, and for some reason my concentration and organizational skills has improved by 100%

This is great to hear!  I lost 11# my first month.  I have a total of 100# to lose.  I contemplated on taking half in morning and half in evening but since I work graveyard shift I am finding it to be best to take mine at night. I have stalled because for a month I kept forgetting to get my script when I got paid.  I just got my refill, for 90 days and I am doing my best to get back on track and stay on track.  I love water so that helps.  My issue is time to prepare meals; I am a single mother of three, working full time and a full time student.  I am hoping my doctor will allow me to continue with this to at least reach my half way point.  I am conscious of what I eat but sometimes when my depression is bad, I eat bad.  I try to keep it balanced.  Thanks for sharing your positive effect of taking this medication.

I lost 20 lbs on my own first, I took vitamin B12 complex and ate healthier and exercised. I started phentermine and I've lost another 26 lbs, I am only going to be on it for a total of 6 months.  I believe I have made a lifestyle change, this isn't just a diet for me, it's an actual change in my lifestyle.  My sister took phentermine for about a year she lost a lot of weight, she went off it for a few months and still lost 20 more lbs.  It's all about your lifestyle.

14yrs!?  You really have a doctor that has allowed this med for that long?  Everything I have read does not recommend this medication for long term use, the med alone most likely won't help with weight loss rather you need to eat less calories, less sugar and less fat.  You can live without the drug, it can just be habit forming which is why it is recommended as a weigh loss booster.  I have seen many take this for 3 months max, then off for a few then back on; if need be.

I get my pills at www.customhrt.com they are cheaper than anywhere I have looked.  I get 100 pills, the 37.5 for $89.00 that includes shipping.  I always receive them within 3 to 4 days after I order them.

to my knowledge it is OK to keep doing it the way bev said, three months on then two or three weeks off. That way you don't become immune to it. Also, you do want to keep your blood pressure checked so if you start getting it online, you need to be getting it checked somewhere else. Good luck.

I just started taking phentermine 2 weeks ago and have lost 8 pounds(132 right now) 5'2". My goal is to get back to 115-110 which is a healthy weight for my height. I had a tummy tuck last year along with a boob job. I am now a 32DD and wear a 5 jeans in juniors. Gosh I feel better than ever about myself and finally getting those last pounds off! This stuff really works.
I purchased my phertermine online at us-pills.com you will use there online doctor not a local and you don't have to provide your doctors name either for contact. Your BMI just has to be 25 or over. My BMI was 25 and I got mine no problem.Just answer the questions and if they have problems filling they will contact you.

arent you supposed to stop after 6 months? well my dr said that, but still wouldnt give them to me. said i needed to lose 5-10 pounds on my own first!!! if i could do that, i wouldnt need pills. anyway i started eating healthy and cutting portions a few weeks ago. i am taking the disolving B12 vits. drinking lots of water and walking when i can. so far i have only lost 3-4 pounds, but i really want to keep it off. people tend to gain after getting off phentramine. maybe your dr can help you to wean off. if you are taking them make sure you are having your blood pressure checked on a regular basis.

I've been taking Phentermine for about 3 years.  The only thing is your body becomes immune to it and it is not as effective.  About every three months I try to stop taking them for a few weeks.  Otherwise I end up having to take two pills a day to see any results.

I am curious how much you have lost.  This medication is not meant for long time use as patients need to learn how to manage eating and exercising and the medication is just a booster for the weight loss.  I have read that many patients will take it for 3 months then go off for several weeks then get back on it to prevent from becoming immune.  I was surprised and happy when I found out that I could get a 30day supply at our local hospital pharmacy for only $20!   I wish you well and hope you continue to have success with this program and are able to eventually go off of it completely and maintain with self discipline.
